Im new to the server and new back to UO(why do i ever leave). Iv made a few characters and have made unique profiles for each one. It's a lot of hotkeys to set up for each profile and most of them are the same for each char. The few i have set different i get confused when i try to use them (/noob on). So my question is: Do you use the default profile for each or make seperate profiles?
Ive had several different types of setups. Version 1: General templates "crafter", "scribe/stun mage", "lumberjacker", etc.... Version 2: Individual template for each character. Im preferring version #2. I did the general template one because I found it difficult transitioning server to server and using the profiles got confusing.. Is char name XYZ my scribe stun mage or my dexxer mage / etc....Much easier to just pick a template that is descriptive rather than a name. In the end, do whatever seems to make things simpler and easier for you.
I have a profile for every character, plus extra profiles for specific tasks. If I have common hot keys, I make sure those are the same across all profiles that use them.
Many are close, I just copy/paste a profile similar to the new profile file and then tweak it as I need it so you really only have to set most hotkeys once.
Ill add that a HUGE.....HUGE/IMMENSE/COLOSSAL part of UO success is efficient and well though out macro's and hotkeys. Its truly amazing what you can accomplish with the "proper" setup. Im not implying theres a right way and a wrong way to do most things just trying to impress the importance of this. Id suggest spending a large amount of time perfecting what works for YOU, as well as borging/copying others macros when they are posted or shared and searching the internet when needed. This is a 20 year old game theres alot of decent stuff posted out there. FWIW.....
Really the only reason I make all of mine separate, considering I have at many that are exactly the same is so they have their own dress agents for wands. It's a real pain to have to reset all your wands everytime you log onto a character.
