    Hi folks,

Dragons are too big. Could anybody point me to whatever file(s) I need to get smaller dragons please? And if you could give a fairly simple instruction for what I do with said file(s) that'd be great.

    Thanks :)

Forgive my ignorance if this has already been discussed, but isn't something like this frowned upon?

I mean, not this exact example, but modding the game in general?

Making smaller dragons is one thing, but creative people could probably cook up a million ways to mod the game to an unfair advantage.

The question makes me wonder how many players are "altering" things to their own personal preference or advantage.

Not trying to cause problems, this is a genuine question from a relatively new player to the server.

You are correct, people could cook up a million ways to alter the game artwork my guy.

Buuuuuuuuuuuut mechanics ain't changing, just because I'm running something that gets rid of trees and turns them into stumps doesn't mean the trees ain't there and I can run through them.

If you're running with a group and y'all got Tamers with a bunch of dragons, it can turn into a cluster fuck, shrink em down or turn em into lord blackthorn and you have way better visibility of wagwan on your screen buuuuuuut mechanics haven't changed, dragons still only taking up 1 tile space, they still dragons.

You ever not clocked that plat coin in your bag? Or been trying to grab that tiny ass single green coin offa body repeatedly missing? There's a mod for that too.

I would consider it an unfair advantage if it wasn't an option available to you, but it is an option available to you homie, and anyone else.

Hope that answers your questions my guy!

Everything you said just now Earshot I need to do and don't. I'm not sure about the trees thought I've seen them in videos and the 11 year old logging into UO for the first time in Yew and marveling at the trees crys a little haha.

Where can I find those mods for the plat, hc and drags?

So here's the thing. Chris has already discussed this in a thread (I lost the link) and stated that such art mods are purely Client side and not detectable by the server. As such, it is impossible to police whether he, the shard owner, condones it or not. Therefore, it exists in a gray area of allowed.

This is why you see screenshots from people with small dragons, blackthorn dragons, no trees, custom scroll images, colored spell icons, custom bag images, etc.

All of this is technically allowed on UOR unless stated otherwise by Chris in the future.

I have seen a few videos of people running around with just tree stumps where trees usually are, and a pure white game master sprite in place of a white Wyrm. At first I didn't know what it was, but now it's something I've considered doing myself.

So far I am running on nostalgia, and haven't changed anything, but sometimes it's tempting. I guess it's a question of efficiency vs aesthetic. Something to be said for getting lost behind a chunky dragon though, and not knowing where you're actually standing.

If it's of any use, I use no such mods to alter my visual gameplay. At a stretch I ignore light levels (never dark), but lately stopped using it and now just cast night sight on my toons.

I love this game and it's visuals too much and gladly sacrifice inconvenience over natural landscape

So for the first 6 months I was here, I ran with no art mod's. Then I got the tree hack and the small dragon. I liked it at first and was happy. I then had to re-do my computer and started fresh with a clean client install. And haven't gone back to the mods at all. I truly feel that even the minor annoyances like how big a dragon is, takes away from the feel of the game. Now the old music and dark nights, no thank you ;)

Yeah I hear you. I'm still playing au natural, and there is a good chance I won't change that. I steal and act like a dick most of the time, and all of that is essentially roleplaying (though I don't consider myself an RP'r). I prefer to do that in an environment that compliments the role, rather than something stripped down for pure efficiency.

I too like the authentic nostalgia of actual trees, and land tiles that aren't all exactly the same. But the trees can be a real inconvenience and PITA when trying to pathfind, as clicking on the ground under a trees canopy of leaves translates to a pathfind to the location of the tree, which is not close to the land under the leaves. Just a pain and annoyance, especially since its not an uncommon thing. I like the Fel map details, leafless trees, gravestones instead of plants that dont look like something you will get stuck on, its IMHO easier to navigate on that map style.

He probably wasn't filming his first UO experience as a child in the 90s/00s :)

I may be wrong but I read it as a comment on his feelings about tree hack rather than a literal event.
