Returning to UO after a bad start on another server

UO:R was my favorite era by far and I am excited to find this server.

I started playing UO again, after a 24 year break, on another server.

It did not go well.

I will not name that server, but it was a ghetto.

Unlike back in the day, the people who run that server farm new players.

They have every house spot marked, they have every dungeon under surveillance.

The knew every bug to break into a house.

They even tweaked game rules to give noobs other disadvantages.

I like a good fight, but I felt like a fish in barrel.

Bottom line, if this server is like that, let me know now.

If it isn't I would love to play here and support the server.

I did some digging and looks like the same house security measures are needed here as on the last server.

Tables, key rings, trash cans and fish steaks are required to make your house semi secure?

They didn't always work on the last server -- but those were bugs.

There was a bug that allowed ghosts to somehow follow a player that gates out and they could rez in the house somehow.

We don't have those issues here. Yes, you do need security walls and key rings for security, but that's cuz we are a fully Fel server. I just integrate my security wall into the rest of my home decor.

There's no bug here allowing ghosts to self-rez in someone's house. That's almost a game-breaking bug wtf. They need to fix that.

Also, it's always a good piece of advice to avoid gating inside your house as much as possible, unless you're gating somewhere completely secure. Even if we don't have the ghost issue, a thief could still stealth thru your gate, then just hide in wait until you're gone and clean you out.

Anywho, this is a great server! I've been here since 2016, and even tho I took an extended break, this was still my UO server. Please feel free to shoot me a DM in Discord if you have any questions. I will try to answer them to the best of my ability.

Will definitely be in the market for a couple stacks of Recalls, a runebook, some Marks and a GM spear.

It's never been in the history of UO, anywhere, for it to be illegal to play on a ghost.


You guys have misinterpreted this rule in a horrendous fashion.

It's illegal to ghost cam dungeons, champs, pvm spawns, maybe factions.


It's not illegal to run around, explore and scout idocs, the overland and etc. It's not illegal to follow, stalk outside, gate hop, etc.

It's also not illegal to stealth loot a house with no/bad security. You were given spirit speak to reveal ghosts (absurd)


So yeah, camming and such bad. Playing on a ghost = 1/3 - 2/3rds of the game

After looking at the Code of Conduct, I see that you're right. It's specifically worded for dungeons and champ spawns. That wasn't how it was explained to me. I was under the impression that using ghosts to scout at all was against the rules. I apologize for my misrepresentation. That was not my intention.

OMG I always forget what spirit speak is for haha, but I didn't say stealth looting was illegal. I gave advice on how not to get cleaned out that way.

That's why your wall is squared. If it isn't, a ghost can be rezzed on the other side. It was a fun part of house looting before the spirit speak change.

Last person I caught with a bad table wall was Merlin, at his Ice Dungeon small tower

I wonder if this is what he was calling a bug on the other server. Maybe people were just building shit security systems, and it was letting ghosts rez across table walls.
