Last night I was at Yew bank handling my business, and I had clicked on my rune book in the bank box, while there I apparently accidentally clicked the change book name button. the book closed and thinking nothing of it I closed my bank box and went a viking Anyway, I went to say something while in the middle of absolutely nowhere and I received the message "you have changed the books name" and my rune book opened up for me. Curious if it would work, I clicked the gem to travel back to Yew bank, and Viola, there I was. To make sure it wasn't a one time deal I again opened my bank, opened my rune book, this time purposefully clicked the name change gem and walked into the wilderness. Once I was a good distance away I typed a word, again received the name changed message and was able to recall using the rune book in my bank box to return to the bank, no blessing needed and no risk of loss upon death.
Yea, this one has been on the list for a while. Thanks for the reminder however, still need to get it fixed.
Yeah HateCrime, after I already posted this I searched and saw you had posted almost a year ago, but since there was no recent activity on yours I figured I would leave mine up. I was also wondering but haven't tried yet to see if I could open it, minimize it and still bring it up later to travel back
Its an easy thing to fix, I've really waited to look into it since its a trivial problem. Is it more annoying to have a runebook open, and turn your character closing the bank, the failing to recall off of the book? Or is it better to invalidate any runebook gump when closing your bank?
i would add a "distance/reachability" test when clicking the recall/gate function of the book, to cover all scenarios. You'd get a message like "this is not accessible" if your bank is closed.
I think this is the way to go. You can do the same with the book in any container, even on the ground (or locked in your house).
I presume it has already been noted that runebooks in houses are still accessible from outside the house too...? this has been reported longs times agos too... just curious... As much as I enjoy using private runebooks locked inside houses... I still reckon it should not work that way...
I've noticed that I can open a runebook either in my house, in the bank or anywhere else for that mater and leave it open no matter where I go or what I do. And it's still usable. Definitely think this needs to be fixed.
This has been resolved in patch 38, and is currently being tested, just some goofy leftover AOS code.
