Hey All, Wondering which is the most efficient way to smelt valorite in your experience? Smelting 15/20 stacks even with 100 mining seems to have a very high loss percentage, but smelting one large ore at a time (takes a while) seems to not yeild a significant gain. So what say you? Which method would you say is best? Thanks, Smithy
Pop on some +5 mining gloves for good luck (whether they work or not), and then I just smelt the whole pile too.
Secondary question. I've read somewhere that the larger the stack, the more mining skill it takes to successfully smelt it (for the high-end ores), is that true? [edit] I've yet to get any mining gloves from BoDs, so I'm still rocking 100 mining.
For my own peace of mind, I smelt pile of six ore at a time. lol Not as frustrating to lose ore from a small pile, as from a very large pile. Westra
I think it's entirely related to the type of ore and your mining skill. Pile size is irrelevant. So with that said, I always just do the full stack, since expected value is the same as dividing it into little pieces. And I can use the time I saved to do other stuff, which makes it a higher expected value by doing one pile all at once. Time is money!
Mining gloves are no longer attainable through bods. The only way to get them now is a surprisingly rare drop from Golems. With that said, you can get either a +1, +3, or +5 set of gloves.
WHAT? Are you serious? Since when what this implemented? Everyone I've talked to says you get it from BoDs. Bart are you trying to get me out of the city so you can add me to your murder count? Not cool!
Yup, they been gone from BODs since last October or so. Basically it comes down to smelting all at one time is higher risk, but higher reward. Smelting in small piles will give you a more consistent result.
Well that sucks balls! So basically a normal lowly miner has no chance of getting the mining gloves any more. Now you have to be a combat miner or have the toons from your other 2 accounts covering the miner to kill the golems. Who's bright idea was this? I find this plain dumb as this undercuts the regular crafter. Looks like you'll be murdering all of my toons Bart.
I'm pretty sure you're being sarcastic, but Poe's Law and all... There's 251 pairs of +5 mining gloves on the server. If you really want some, offer some cash in the trade channel. There's 3500 pairs of +3 mining gloves on the server. If you can't track down a +5 pair, this is almost as good and people should have tons to sell
