I don't know about other weapons (Except that special Kryss), but the first 'rare' weapon I got (Blood Scimitar) I tested and it was a regular Scimitar.
Its a regular weapon without bonus to accuracy or damage and merely meant to be a decorative item (like basically every "rare" weapon you could possibly find) I wouldnt see a problem if they were +25 Vanqs, but people would propably loose them, or assume they are blessed, etc and then whine to chris.
