As title states, can Vesper get a stablemaster? -----Edited July 14----- I was thinking on making a new thread but this will do. After spending some time roaming around the city of Vesper, I fount several locations for the stablemaster. Alright know to the first choice: A.) This building (Vesper guard tower) is empty and would provide a stable master, but the location is far off from the bank. B.)The island just south-east of the mainland is open and close to the bank but does this really make sense? and finally the last option C.) This building here is the Art building below Vesper bank. I was wondering if the art building could be moved to Vesper guard tower(option A) and replace it with a stable master. I am sure know one really uses this building and this is why option C is my favorite choice. That being said, I want everyone's opinion on this A, B C, or D.. Option D = I don't care Vesper sucks! If you all can find a better spot, please post a picture with feedback and why.
I'd vote for the island or the building on the mainland, south west of the town. There's not enough art stores left in the world, lets not take the pixel stores too!
leave the island alone, changing the art shop is stupid because you can get deoc tools there so the guard tower would be a better option and its closer to an inn
C Kick those dirty artists out on the street. Maybe their brush with poverty will inspire them to create a truly wonderful work of art. So really, we're helping them.
Since we do allow players to spread all over the world, I personally don't see an issue with adding a stable similar to how moonglow was updated. Does anyone remember any precedent from OSi in which an addition was made to vesper? As for your spot ideas, the southern spot would use the open space north of the guard shack where a new building could be constructed. As for Grimoire, the stable will be left there with the understanding that the location be used for continued player events, if not it will be removed or relocated. Since no one has tried to sell "tower plus stable" it has remained for the time being.
Of course, right next to Hazy's house. lol Not that I'm really opposed to it, but I'd rather see it in an un/underused structure within the town personally.
As the current owner of the tower at Grimoire I can say definitively that it is not for sale and that Events are coming. So please don't touch the StableMaster SO who has some good event ideas that are not currently being run?
Honestly I don't think every city needs a stablemaster, historically UO lore dictated what shopkeepers/facilities a town had, and Vesper was never a city which had a stablemaster. I love UO for the nostalgia factor, so the whole "Island city" theme of Vesper makes a lot of sense, and to me a stable just does not fit in with the lore/atmosphere. My only other point is that by adding all these new facilities it decreases player interaction as players become much more spread out than before, UOR's population is great, however it is nowhere near the numbers seen during OSI. If the current stables were overcrowded I could definitely see a need for this, however as it stands a handful of them are completely isolated. As UO grew, players congregated around towns/cities which most they most identified with; Mages to moonglow, tamers to skara, smiths to minoc etc. As most cities did not have all the available facitlities, players were forced to go to cities which adhered to their playstyles and as a result it was a great way to get to know players with similar mindsets. I feel a lot of this player interaction is being lost due to convenience, while it's great that we're getting all these new areas/facilities, it just seems as though a lot of the old stuff is being left to the wayside.
I think it's a good idea (I'm opposed to players having stablemasters or bankers in player towns/housing, I'm okay with deco add-ons though) I also think cove could use a stable.
After reading what Deacon had to say, I got to agree with em. All about the player interaction. --That being said, if the population increases, stablemaster in Vesper!
