Outside sources have to be considered with care. They often describe other era's.

You can walk up to 10 steps when stealthed here (every 10 skill points give you 1 tile more). No auto-restealth, you have activate it yourself. No running possible. You are not allowed to wear much armor for re-stealthing.

Rules for stealth are pretty harsh then. Thanks for the really quick answers :)

I'm not too happy with the stealth here. It often fails (I'm gm). So here I am trying to sneak up on a pretty egg just lying there in the grass when, before steps are out, I find myself in full view of a very cranky Fluffy. Nothing to do but to turn and RUN, since it takes forever to rehide.. Is stealth this unreliable or am I missing something? Don't wear any armor, just a pretty dress.

It never fails with GM and without armor. Something is done wrong, but I dont know what you are doing.

Make sure your armor is leather, not studded, You can not successfully stealth in anything more than leather armor. You get 10 steps, I have always disliked the 10 step, re-stealth, but there is nothing wrong with stealth here other than that.

yep.. found some studded nickers underneath it all. No worries Joe, I was very discrete, checked myself behind the trashcan by Glow bank... nobody saw me.. They are removed and I can now sneak about without revealing myself! =) (and its soooo much more comfortable now!)

Im pretty sure its 100% with no armor at 80 skill too. You only get 8 steps, and cant wear ANY armor, but it never fails. :D

::Also, you can take any armor you want and setup a dress/undress macro with razor.

...and depending on what youre doing, stealthing then waiting 5-6 seconds before you walk will allow you to walk 10 steps then almost immediately stealth again and take another 10 steps.
