I know that stun punch requires you to have 80 wrestling and 80 anatomy, but does anyone know how each of those skills contribute to the chance that a punch will stun a fellow? The wrestling dictates your likely-hood of connecting with your adversary, but even with a hit, you aren't guaranteed a stun. So my questions are: Does Anatomy effect your chance to stun? After the requisite 80, of course. And, does Wrestling effect your chance to stun other then giving you a better chance to actually hit?
From the website: Wrestling is a combat skill used to calculate chance to hit when unarmed. Wrestling combined with Arms Lore will allow the disarm special attack. Wrestling combined with Anatomy allows the stun special attack (80 in each skill = 40% chance, 100 in each skill = 50% chance).
Thanks Klaus, I would still like to figure out what contributes to the chance. Like what would a build with 100 wrestling and 80 anat stun, 45% or still 40%? My guess is that wrestling only contributes to your chance to hit, and anatomy is used to determine in the hit is a stun or not.
Looking at the paragraph posted, it seems to me that it would be (anat + wrestling) /4 (80 + 80)/4 = 40% (100+100)/4 = 50% So to answer your question, 100 wrestling and 80 anat should lead to a 45% chance. Skill checks based around adding skills up and then dividing the total are common in UO, so I'm fairly certain this is the way it works.
I think that in this case it very well may be different. Special hits with weapons, for instance, are based only on anatomy (i believe). I assume wresting is the same, but the only motivation for the question was to get a concrete answer. Obviously the chance to hit is determined by wrestling, but I think the stun % is based on anatomy (after both reach 80).
That is different from what I believed up to now. I once read something on stratics, where you HARDLY ever stun at 80/80. It just starts with ~2% chance. On that page it was clearly stated that 100/100 is necessary for effective use. Now the quotation from the UOR website suggests very different mechanics here as 40% at 80/80 are very efffective still.
Oftentimes a kill comes down if a stun hits or not. We can agure that 40% is effictive, but you defenitly want the 50% on your template. The correct formular is (as already mentioned): (Wrestling+Anat) / 4 Also: To my knowledge the stun is calculated before the wrestling hit in the default Run UO script. You can notice this also by a stunned opponent and a failed wrestling hit which you will see oftentimes. Id love to see some minor changes to that system (iE. Stunpunch calculation AFTER a successful wrestling hit)
