Hi folks. So, having finally got a character to 7 x GM (it's only taken me about 18 and a half years.... ) I realise that I have wasted points on there. Here's what I've got: GM Detecting Hidden - DON'T NEED (this was when the toon was a short-lived thief char - being a thief made me sad) GM Stealth - DON'T REALLY NEED GM Hiding - useful but I could potentially live without some, or all of it. GM Magery - I'd like to keep this GM Resist - I'd like to keep this GM Tracking - I'd like to keep this GM Med - I'd like to keep this I don't think I want to take up weapons on this char, nor am I very keen on anything involving music. I do want him to be a useful hunter (for medium-level spawn) of some kind. I wonder whether I could go Frienzied Ostard-riding mage? In which case, what would you do? I don't want to go full tamer and I do quite like the idea of ossytanking. Other ideas warmly welcomed. Your help is humbly sought, fellow adventurers!
Tamer tracker take out stealth hiding resist spells. Add animal lore, taming, vet This will allow you to find zoo quest animals for the zoo quest, help during special events where tracking is needed ect. Or take out hiding, stealth, tracking and replace with wrestle anatomy, tactics to make a heal stunmage for defense and pvp
Make new char for taming, don't start at 30. For the 3 skills you are looking to replace: eval, anat, heal or replace with eval and anat and keep hiding
....and if I only want to ride/control an Ossy, not tame it, how much animal lore/taming do I need? Or, what would be the minimum of both? I'm guessing I need GM Lore in order to most effectively heal, so perhaps I'm asking - how little taming can I get away with?
You're looking to go the tamer (light ostard with vet) route without melee and dedicating 400 skills already? That's a shoe horn of a build you're asking for... 400 aforementioned skills no taming for regular ostard animal lore veterinary evaluate intelligence You'd be one of a kind, I'd reckon then again, you'd have a very light pet that cannot be dispelled. You'd be limited on summon usage as they'd likely continuously attack the ostard, unless you time it right and mount often. If you're looking to get into frenzied ostards, you may as well GM that taming. "meh" A useful hunter minus melee or bard skills with GM magery? tamer, just make a tamer --- what's another 20 years? animal lore 100 animal taming 100 magery 100 meditation 100 resisting spells 100 tracking 100 veterinary 100
With the template suggesting. It's the best way to save some of those skills. Plus it would help on multiple scenarios. For defense keep reflect up, have pots set to hot keys, pop bags ect n you are good to go.
*pouts* But papa, I don't WANT to GM taming. I wanna ride a Frenzied Ostard, that I buy from a tamer. If I have GM Lore and Anat, what's the min. taming I need to stay on/get back on the fecker? Hey, I know this isn't anybody's idea of a "great" template, and it might be stupid to many, but it's what I wanna do.
Cheers. Ok. So the minimum taming is also the minimum to control? Sorry if that's a terribly n00b question. I never tamed afore. 100 Mage 100 Resist 100 Med 100 Tracking 100 Animal Lore 100 Veterinary 77.7 Taming Not gonna do anything constructive with those additional 22.3 points, am I? Hmmm.
Maybe the flaw nobody's pointed out (perhaps because everyone except me knows this) is that for a mage I need something along the lines of 100/25/100 STR/DEX/INT but for anyone who's going to be doing serious healing with bandies, I want DEX as high as possible. Or......?
meh Heal / Cure a Pet or Player ♦ Over 100 Dex = 3 Seconds ♦ 81-99 Dex = 3.5 Seconds ♦ 51-79 Dex = 4 Seconds ♦ 26-50 Dex = 4.5 Seconds ♦ Under 25 Dex = 5 Seconds with pack instinct max damage bonus set at 5 pets, you'll do more than handle "medium hunting" .... casual running around with one will see you through a bunch of content choices. there's a large selection of stat distribution available to you however bandage timer won't matter unless you float between 26 and 50 and tbh I don't feel it's worth it for half a second. That brings us to 51 for a full second's bandage pet bonus, which is pretty good. 74/51/100 for magery influence (don't forget the HP bonus, you'll have more than 74 hp with this) 87/51/87 balanced 100/51/74 can still gate your pack out / magery used as utility OR without eval and using no summons, what do you "need" GM magery for? 80.1 gate with scrolls - 100 = 19.9 + 23.3 = 43.2 = we lost in the minutia yet? I say, get to what you primarily want (frenzied ostard control) and play with it from there on the test server. G'luck and have fun!
