Hi guys, I just started here and haven't played UO in a very long time. Even when I did, I never really had great builds. So this is the first time I really want to make a character I can have some fun with. Sorry if this has been done to death but searching though older threads on this topic is a bit overwhelming. I know it's subjective, but here goes. For my first character the peace/provo dexxer looks like a lot of fun, but I could use some advice. The consensus seems to be provo is more useful than peace... true? Are the following skills a good mix? I don't know what to do with the 7th skill, and will lumberjacking give me enough of a bonus to make it worthwhile? I was thinking of hiding just for safety. Worth it? I'd like to be able to defend myself in PvP situations, but I'm not interested in PvP as a primary play style. Anatomy Healing Music Peave or Provo Swords Tactics 7th skill: Hiding Lumberjacking Magery (enough to recall with scrolls)
I usually prefer to play as a warrior but are there any pros & cons here that will convince me to go with magery? It seems like a lot more work and I play pretty casually!
magery will prevent you from getting killed 99% of the time. If you have magic resist up and a macro. That should be it. and nice to recall everywhere. gate etc etc. Why do hiding when you can get away with magery, and magery does more. EDIT: Killed from pkers that is.
Thanks guys. Do I need eval int / med to go with magery? I don't remember how the complimentary skills are supposed to work. Or are they unnecessary?
Unfortunately here a mage is way more powerful than a warrior 1v1. Personally, I would do enough to recall 100% from scrolls (all you really need for a warrior), and put the rest on resist. True that you will have monsters provoked and not necessarilly on you, but every once in a while those provos fail, and you want to be able to whitstand a FS from a lich lord or whatever. And as stated, a recall macro is a must.
Oh, one more thing... I've seen some builds with magery and about 40 or so lumberjacking. Do you actually get some kind of damage bonus with 40ish lumberjacking and GM swords? That looked interesting to me but I have a hard time believing it's worth it.
People do believe the extra three/four damage is worth it I think what you're seeing template wise on characters that is confusing you is what you don't see, especially with provodexxers. That being they spend a majority of their time in protected single instances and can afford to gimp their open field ability. That being ancient sos and level 7 maps to name a couple. Mine for example varied but none of them had magery at all as I never planned to use them for anything aside from the aforementioned.
