Edit and correction I kind of hate people that hoard towers and smalls to sell. I redeeded this for a free spot for a newer player. Hopefully established players wont put something down to flip but will let someone put down a house naturally without getting gouged. If someone places and puts my name on the house sign again, it's not I, just someone failing at an attempt to be clever and most likely cock blocking a newb from getting a decent house at price.
man i was so excited when i saw the first posts on this thread since i just about have enough for a tower deed, hopes crushed oh well, have not even settled into my villa yet, so maybe i should do that first
I think it's unfair to blame people for grabbing an empty tower spot. The likelihood of the spot staying empty until a "new" player raises 433k to buy a deed is zero. While it's a great gesture to make the spot available, a more effective way of helping out a new player would be to transfer a house directly to them. Or, why not leave the spot empty and not advertise it on the trade forum... Just let someone happen upon it. Let's not be naive - we all know how this works - on every UO shard ever. Again, nice gesture, but I don't think we can claim to be doing a good deed by creating a thread like this. New players aren't the ones combing through the trade forum relentlessly at all hours. And no, I didn't place this house.
It's a nice gesture Bodhran, maybe keep the locations secret after announcing you know of a tower spot and wait for new players to get in touch with you, so some jackass doesn't see the spot and snag it for a profit.
I like the gesture. I'm all for helping newbs. But ya never know, maybe that individual could only afford a small house and placed it there and is working his way into affording something bigger. Maybe you did make a new players day.
