As Ive been fairly vocal about how I experience quite a bit of lag here on UOR mostly in the form of "server freezes" Ill call it. It has been described here on the forums before but basically the entire game freezes for 1-2 seconds. Both the player actions, surrounding players, mobs, everything freezes. This happens to me personally approx once every 3 mins (? - give or take?) and its hella annoying. Other descriptions and player experiences here I personally feel that this is server side. The reason I think this with commitment is that it is reproducible on all 3 computers that I play on as well as 1 of the computers is at a different location and completely different IP. Same ISP for both. Here is my current hardware: Router: Asus RT-AC87R Router Computer 1: Desktop - Win 7 -Gigabyte Z77X UP5 motherboard, i5-3570K@stock cpu, 16gb DDR3 (forget brand), GTX 780, PSU - who the hell cares lol? Always wired internet connection. Computer 2: Laptop - MSI Ghost pro G60. Things a freakn BEAST I love this thing! Win 8 - almost always wireless internet connection. Computer 3: Different location. Cant recall specs its not special at all. i5-3570k, mini mobo, 8? GB DDR3, Dont think specs matter but will provide if someone thinks its impt. Although Im a heavy tech guy its mostly hardware related. When it comes to networking/internet troubleshooting Im weak. I manage my own home network without issue and can successfully do anything with regards to programming/reprogramming my router settings/etc. I could really use some help interpreting this tracert. Tracert was run from my primary gaming site (Computer 1) which is a wired connection. I ran a tracert to both login.uorenaissance.com as well as www.google.com just for a comparison. The omitted white box is my router IP which is blocked for obvious reasons. The timeouts concern me but I have no idea how to interpret them or how to follow through to troubleshoot further. I dont experience lag or connection issues in other games or general internet usage. Often times when Im playing Im streaming a video/stream/movie/etc on the other screen and while UOR is "frozen" or "lagged" I get no hiccups or performance decreases on these other applications. The traceroutes you've provided look fine actually. The timeouts in your traceroute examples are nothing to be concerned with and just show the device it hit is likely set up to not respond so it'll always show a timeout on that hop through that device. I've noticed the hiccups as well from time to time. Nothing too bad though really and not too frequent I don't think. A few of the times I've noticed them I was being chased (I do evil things sometimes) and it appeared the person chasing me must have experienced the freeze as well or they would have caught me. Instead they gained no ground and were in the same spot after the freeze stopped. Since the problem you've noticed is semi-intermittent it might be a good idea to set up a constant ping to somewhere. Do ping -t 74.125.22.106 (that particular google IP) and just let it go. Next time you notice one of those freezes check out the ping that's running and see if your response times jumped up or if there are any timeouts all of a sudden. Since that's to google it obviously isn't perfect but it might show you if there's a temporary hiccup on your home network or your connection to your ISP. If not then I guess (I'd check with Chris on this first) you could start a ping to UOR's IP address and let it run while you play then see if the times jump up or if there are any timeouts that correspond with the time you notice the freezes.
Ty for the advice. I will try the ping -t and see if I can correlate any performance issues in game on UOR with ping spikes or connection issues. Any other comments welcomed.
