I'm working on a new character and I was seriously considering putting Tracking on it. However I decided to search the forums for info on it and what I found made me sad. Once upon a time (2013) the skill was amazing or at least it was usable in finding other players. But apparently people cried hard enough and so tracking of players part of the skill got nerfed pretty significantly from what I read. The PvM portion of the Tracking skill seems to have stayed intact and glorified by many (including staff). But we have yet to hear back about the player tracking portion. At least as far as I am aware of from my searching these forums. Is tracking a waste of a skill slot if my intent is to use it primarily for player tracking?
huh really? [sauce] Irrelevant to the topic. PvP is a flash term to get people's attention. There is more than 1 kind of PvP, not all PvP is dueling. Maybe my goal is to track a certain guild around to gather information on them and sell it to the highest bidder! Or track a blue player and sell it to a pker. Maybe I just want to know where Wylwrk is.
if you know a players on screen hidden and stealthing around tracking is great. Or if they're within a few screens it's handy, but gone are the days you could step into a dungeon, hit tracking and catch everyone in there farming. I'm a big fan of tracking, even in it's reduced state. It's an easy one to macro up AFK too homie. My advice would be to get out there and try it out, if you find it's useless for your intended usage, fuck it off. Good luck playaaaaaaa
Hmm well that's not quite as bad as I've read on the forums here. People made posts that tracking was failing to even find people on the same screen unhidden. So that had me worried. But 2-3 screens away is acceptable in my mind. Walking into a dungeon and hitting tracking to see anyone in it would be OP for sure. relevant yes, but not very in depth. Do you have tracking skill on any char? edit: I did some tracking on you (One) and it seems you like wylwrk's posts a lot. So bias post is bias.
Everyone's got there own experiences with it dude, I'm not saying I'm right or wrong. I like tracking enough to dedicate 100 skill points to it on 3 different characters, take from that what you will!
I've done extensive testing on tracking. Its use on players is not worth the points. You've asked for opinions and are chastising me for responding? I had you pegged for an alt and now I'm certain that you're just here to stir the pot. What I meant by it won't be changed is you have to play for today. Things that are in development and things that appear to be launching soon can quickly change. I don't know how more clear I can answer your question, is tracking worth it for tracking players? For tracking players no... no to me it isn't. Others have and will continue to respond. Add that to your data and make a personal decision. This is how asking public questions on a forum works. If you're looking for a specific format for the volunteers on your thread then I suggest that you include specificity. Tracking a Guild around for information is PvP.
Stir the pot.. You gave me a half ass reply and you have to gull to claim I'm stirring the pot for being unhappy with your reply? Regardless of that sny attack on my character. Thank you for time to reply with a much more in depth answer. Don't fall victim to becoming a high school cool kids table only member. It turns off new comers.
Yes. If your primary use of the skill tracking is to track real players it is a waste, although pets are still trackable so you can find tamers that way. It was a necessary nerf, and has done more for the server health then any single change I can think of.
My answer is going to be the best answer. Short, to the point, and correct. It's not what you wanted to hear, I must suppose... and now you're stirring up more ____ because you didn't like my answer? The ____'s your deal? Expect no changes ever. Don't plan a character on proposed changes here. <<< that's what advice looks like. You are free to view it however you like be it good, bad, or indifferent. How you feel about it is irrelevant to me. It's an opinion. Do not use tracking for PVP. Your lack of understanding what PvP is, is not my problem either. It too is an opinion. How you feel about it is irrelevant to me. Hello @Wolfbane , how ironic to see you here.
Than why do you keep shitting in my thread? If how I feel is so irrelevant you wouldn't respond. You are psychologically projecting. And have derailed this thread in the process.
So I ask the community a fair question. Wylwrk gives me a terrible response. Which I (now regret) replying to and he goes off topic successfully derailing the thread... But I'm marked as the troll? He claims I asked HIM a question, I did not. But now all his buddies will gang up on me and call me a troll. Proof of no question. A statement and comments. http://uorforum.com/threads/tracking-skill-pvp.34440/#post-331105 --- His buddy One also continues to play school yard bully pick on the new kid antics. Pot calling the kettle black.
Sometimes text is a poor way of communicating, with no inflection or emotion, two people who would otherwise get along can find themselves in a argument over semantic pedantic bullshit. The fact of the matter is not long ago tracking was extremely over powered and got nerfed. As someone who had 4 GM trackers, I was deeply affected by this change, but I could not support it more. You unknowingly started a thread about a sensitive subject, there are quite a few people who were upset and not understanding about the change, they were unhappy with how severe the nerf was. Some even agreed it needed nerfing just not to the point of complete uselessness. I am personally torn on the subject, but none the less happy that people can farm in relative safety now, as I can no longer clear the entire world in 7 mins with 3 trackers.
You quote me. Then.... This is where I usually say "I'm done with you" but dude, you did yourself a long time ago.
