I have always wondered this. Is there some bit of UO Lore that explains the damage to the corner of this keep-like building near WBB?

So, looking into it, there is nothing specific as to why this building is the way that it is.

However, given the incredibly long and rich history that Britain enjoys, any number of events in the past could have happened to have caused this disrepair in the Warrior's Guild.

Britain is by far the oldest city in Britannia, known even as Akalabeth before the first Age of Darkness (before Ultima 1); during the first Age of Darkness (Ultima 1) Lord British took up residence here and thus named the city.

During the Age of Enlightenment (specifically around the times of Ultimas 5 and 6) Britain greatly expanded in its urban development. Specifically, during the time of the Warriors of Destiny (Ultima 5), Britain expanded into three separate suburbs (known as the Brittanys), and then immediately following those events much of the walls and buildings were removed/rebuilt/remodeled as Britain became one giant unified city.

200 years or so passed between the events of the False Prophet (Ultima 6) and the Black Gate (Ultima 7), during which the city expanded further. The "Imbalance Storms" further changed the layout of city around this time.

So while there is nothing specifically stating what happened to the Warrior's Guild of Britain, it is possible that the damage (or re-building?) was done sometime during one of the many expansions of the city, or possibly from the Imbalance Storms. It is also possible something else entirely occurred; these are just my guesses.

It was the dumb architect's fault! We told him to not build such a large structure next to that mud bank! All it took was one good storm, some flooding and that sucker started crumbling...No no he said, the castle walls are built on solid ground, so this side of the river must be safe as well! Stupid architect!

Forget everything I said, Cero is most likely right, probably just chalk it up to the stupidity of an overzealous architect and taking the moat into appropriate consideration :)

Maybe you don't know, but the "Villiage of PAWS" [VoP] is actually a group from actual UO lore. Eventually they sort of merged in with Brit, and became a suburb. (My guess is too many shard vets gentrified the area with all their fishing and idoc loot that they DEFINITELY NEVER WENT INTO A DUNGEON TO EARN - SERIOUSLY STOP GOING INTO DUNGEONS U NEWBS @Hiji Zuru . Anyway, after that all that business with the "Fellowship" happened, and when it was reconstructed, during a celebration about the BLack Gate or something, Brit was attacked by the Guardian. (Yes that one).

Of course this can't be true on UOR, because we all know that PAWS is near Trinsic, and is NOT part of Brit.

    Also tagging @Jupiter because.
