First of all, 8x8 is not necessary as there is no skill anti-macro code here. I only used it in the title in case someone searches for it. UO's map is a series of tiles. When it comes to resources, each tile will only have one type of resource for a skill (i.e. anywhere you mine inside the same tile will yield the same ore type as anywhere else in that tile). This maps serves to show you where the tiles exist. This is useful for a number of reasons; tracking where certain ores can be found or easily finding the exact spot to stand where you can hit 2, 3 or even 4 tiles at once, etc. If you're just here for the file, I'll cut to the chase. Here it is Also, be sure to check out the following guides for uses of the 8x8 grid: UO:R Geological Survey A Study on Oak Using the file is fairly straight forward. Step 1) Extract the UOAM maps Click Map | Falluca Map Performance Settings Slide all 3 sliders to the far right (if you are low on disk space, you can do just the X-Ray Vie, but I recommend all 3) and click OK This will extract the map files to your UOAM install folder (Default is C:\Program Files\UOAM) Step 2) Grid files Now, take the files from the zip file and save them over the ones you just extracted in the UOAM install folder Step 3) View the grid Click Map | X-Ray View Now, when you zoom in, you can see where the tiles are. I am standing at the point where 4 tiles meet. This means I can mine, etc in all 4 tiles from this one spot. You can also add your own labels (Places | New Label) to track what type of ore can be found in that tile for future use.
I tried to install this. I opened UOAM and moved all the sliders to the right and clicked ok. This did not add any map files in the UOAM folder. What am I doing wrong? Is there a step missing? Edit: I tried again and it didn't work, but then when I looked at the map a bit later the tile lines appeared. So, maybe a delayed reaction?
can anyone help a non computer skilled person....how do you extract the files. i downloaded both but have no idea what to do with them
Old thread, but....sliding the three sliders all the way right didn't "extract" the UOAM bmp files. They don't appear in the UOAM main file. If I go to the "advanced" tab on that Felucca Map Performance settings, I can see that all of the maps have check marks which should indicate that they are "extracted" to the UOAM main file, but they aren't?
If you are having issues getting UOAM to download the map files, make sure you have run UOAM as Administrator.
