Hey guys! So I'm almost done with my first character and must say Inreally enjoy playing here. It's been a while I've been into UO (ten years actually) and need some insight on my build. GM Anatomy GM Healing (now at 98.0) 75% Magery GM Resist (now at 67.0) GM Parrying GM Swordsmanship GM Tactics (now at 95.0) Now I'm wondering if there would be a useful skill worth training to 25.0. I wish I could have some lockpicking to collect chests from dungeons but I'm guessing 25.0 of LP won't get me far for treasure chests.. so I'm guessing... hiding? Also, it's been fun farming lower end mobs for a while but.. are warriors useful after that new player phase? I see tamers, dexxers, bards, mages doing very well but I'm just wondering what will be the purpose of my char when I'm done with it and focusing on another. I mean.. what's the use of a tank if you can get monsters to fight one another? Eh. Thanks!
I would either GM magery or if you insisted on another skill to spend 25 points on, I would choose poison. Lesser poison is better than none at all. IMHO. Assuming this is for pvping of course.
Assuming you run 100/100/25 I am not sure what you need 75 Margery for, If you only took 50 magery then maybe meditation or poisoning for the other 50.
I find magery on any chars as it gives you useful abilities in different situations. Having 75.0 ensures I don't waste my time fizzl'ng. Poison sounds like a good idea!
Hi @Medieval Name, So the "tank mage" is a PvP template not designed in the "tank" PVM sense from the newer games like WoW, closest you can get here is having parry and plate armour! With the template you are going for you could either have GM Margery and use 90 STR / 45 INT / 90 DEX. This is useful for random situations and the ability to gate but if you would rather try to fit in another skill for 25.0 points my opinion would be for hiding or item ID.
I would recommend dropping parry and resist and taking music and peace / provo. its not your traditional warrior template, but you don't need parry or resist if you are not being attacked!
My first character for making a bit of gold has this template: Fencing Tactics Anatomy Healing Magery Music Peace Stats 90/45/90 Sure this isn't going to drag home tamer coin, but it is able to take on a lot of things and played well you are able to go into a dungeon and take on a whole room one mob at a time while the others just stand and watch!
I haven't a been playing long but have a 7xgm mage and a 7xgm bard along with the peace dexxer (among my 12 characters) and I pick my peace dexxer to login with first and run about on!
I love my peace dexxer... music peace fencing tacs anatomy healing 50 magery/ 50 resist (considering changing this to fishing) seriously.
I want to but I want to be able to recall. I don't use it at all on this char except to recall. Sadly warriors have to totally give up an entire skill just to be mobile.
It's sad, but I would really only put Parrying on a character for RP reasons I should say though that one day I will make a RP character/warrior for old fashion dungeon crawling and he will have a shield.
Thanks all for the input! I've never been that much into PvP but wanted to make a warrior that stood a chance against a mage if I had to fight, wich is why I chose to add resist. I guess you can't really have a build that covers well all situations so the major questions now, I guess, is if I'd rather go with PvP and make another char for farming.. or keep it as it is and complement it with another fighting skill instead of parrying so I can have a PvP warrior. Though decision, haha. But considering I barely PvP.. I guess I'll go with Nusir's suggestion and drop parrying and resist. GM Anatomy GM Healing (now at 98.0) GM Swordsmanship GM Tactics (now at 95.0) GM Music (now at 0) GM Peacemaking (now at 0) 75.0 Magery 25.0 resist 90 / 45 / 90 Sounds about right? Is there an easy way to macro peacemaking?
25 Resist isn't really going to help You'd get better use out of poisoning or meditation. And FYI, the only barely viable PvP dexxer is the LJer at the moment.
I also recommend building a Bard to play with, help you decide if you want to go with peace (very very simple to macro) or Provo. If you play with this character a lot you will end up dropping the 25 resist and either replacing it with another skill or finishing magery. Enjoy!
