About two months ago my brother and I created a guild called Watership Down on Dagger Island. We would catch new tamers as they ran around and ask them to join, as well as, new players wherever we met them. At first, I treated it as a way to form a community inside of our community, a way for people to communicate away from IRC and to help one another with the learning curve. It worked out and some of the players stayed, even ones who had barely played UO at all. I then made the mistake of leaving for a month to get ahead on real life work. Also, my brother went back to school and he does not play while he is in school because it hurts his grades (some of you may understand this). I regret this but I needed to get a little more organized myself before I took on the daunting task of maintaining a large guild. That being said, the guild was in some what of a disarray when I returned. So I have booted everybody save for my characters and my brothers. However, I am in the process of dedicating my Large Keep on Dagger to this same guild in effort to help and maintain our new players. If some of you remember NEW on UOSA I hope to function in somewhat of a similar fashion. - Guild Killing is not allowed - Keep a steady supply of bandaids, full spell books, and runebooks on hand - Help with training - Go on lower tier guild hunts and slowly escalate as the skill level increases. - Help create sheep farms and supply knowledge as best I can Now the large keep will be completely emptied of my personal effects but I will supply containers practice weapons and armor. It will have all of the necessary add-ons for each player to pursue their chosen profession. There will be a guild vendor house out front, and each member will be friended (after proving themselves) so that they can fend off pursuing PK's. So why am I telling you this? Maybe you want to take part in this, maybe you have something to donate, maybe you want to be a griefing PK on the doorstep of the keep waiting for new players to exit. Maybe you want to help me decorate a large keep for guild use. Whatever it may be: I am all ears and I have a few days now to work with anyone who wants to help. You can reach me as Weigraf in IRC or in game in my house on Dagger. I am currently looking for a secluded location to move my personal effects to. Large Brick, Patio and Villa in a nice location. Preferably on some grass!
I will be watching the Watership, and will eagerly pass any folks I deem in need of more help than I can provide your way. I will also gladly support and donate to this cause. It is nice to have somebody dedicated to and available to help new players train their skills. While I'd like to be able to do this, I personally barely have enough time to manage Paws with all of Athena's shenanigans, and have nearly 0 time to actively help people train
