Weapon Dmg Questions

    Just wondering how close the Weapon Dmg here is compared to what it was on OSI during UOR. I noticed there are BOD armor but no Power Scrolls, something if I remember right was introduced at the same time. Wouldn't this make weapon dmg mostly gimp compared to what it was seeing you are fighting barbed armor with only 100 Weapon skill?

    That's a really good point.

    IMO, barbed armor is way too strong here, given that it has basically no meditation penalty. 20 more points in tactics and anatomy could probably make a dent in the damage reduction abilities of it, and help balance it out. But the real problem is that there is no reason at all not to wear barbed leather. It's super cheap, very protective, etc.

    Another ancillary issue is that macing doesn't destroy armor (any more than a sword or halberd or whatever else).

    Yeah this was the main problem I had with other free shards. Dexxers were completely nerfed into oblivion, weapons had made up stats and damage ranges etc. Was just wondering if there are any dedicated well geared Dexxers that could give some input.

    I wouldn't say nerfed into oblivion here, but given the power of Inscription, the ability to stun, etc., mages are comparatively better than other shards I've been on.

    The key to dexers will always be fighting in the smallest area possible.

    On OSI it was 2 shots with a Vanq double Axe, str potted and blessed, providing you didn't get the absolute worst unlucky roll. And that was before power scrolls. 1 shot if they wore no armor. Prolly 2-4 with a vanq long spear depending on rolls.

    I agree that the barbed leather armor does seem to benefit the mage class to a great degree, no meditation penalty and you'd better have a decent power weapon or better to even begin putting a dent in them (that is when you hit). Passive wrestling, Inscription bunuses and stun punch all seem to stack up against the dexxer here, it's a challenge but if you spend the gold on a good load out you might survive and even roll a few mages.

    Yep and that's not factoring in RA and heal pots. Did some testing on the test shard and the damage was crap. Inscription bonus and stun is fine, but I don't understand why every freeshard cuts dexxer dmg down to half of what it was on OSI. I'll stick with a mage :D

    The PvP scene is predominantly mage friendly, it's like that on just about every freeshard out there (unless you play some of the hardcore private shards, then it's pretty even).

    Test revealed quite a bit, one-handed weapons are practically useless unless you have power or better with poisoning.

    Special Material Armor (Leather/Metal) is still scaled outside our point in time (Publish one) and at some point is planned for a full review.

    just started playing here again, was just wondering if the armor issue here has been reviewed, because dexxers still seem rather weak
