Trying to get the website IRC to work with my Verizon hot spot connection does not seem to work for some reason. I keep getting this response -

Flash policy problem. If you are the server owner, please read http://redmine.lightirc.com/projects/lightirc/wiki/Flash_Policy_setup_instructions. You need to install a flash policy daemon at eu.chat4all.org (port 843).

I have been using Mibbit, but it seems to be having issues atm also, so what does everyone else use. I have tried a few others, but I can not seem to get them to work. I am not sure what to log onto a server.....

Any advice would be greatly appreciated:)

I like Pidgin. Not specifically for IRC but works just as well.

This is a server side issue. As shown in bold, the server you are trying to connect (eu.chat4all.org) does not have a flash policy daemon installed, thus it does not support Flash-based incoming connections (website IRC).

Try connecting to another server using /server irc.chat4all.org or /server us.chat4all.org.

If the problem persists, then there's nothing you can do about it as it's a server-side issue regarding flash, so you better download a client like mIRC or Hexchat. They won't, of course, have flash problems as they're not flash based as the website one.

Lime Chat (on mac). I used to use Mango IRC but it had too many bugs.

It'll give you a 30-day trial but you can continue using after this period without restrictions.
It'll just ask for registration everytime you open it, but you can skip it and use it normally.

I haven't tried a bunch, but have been using HydraIRC for awhile with no problems (also free).

This is basically an open source copy of http://xchat.org/
I've walked people through configurations on Hex, and I've never seen it. As I understand, it's basically the same as xchat, which I paid $20 for four years ago and use on every PC I have. It's pretty slick and meets my needs completely. That said, save your money and go Hex or another free option mentioned here.

I use INVISION. Easy on the eyes with it's dark mode, and lots of advanced options if you like tinkering, scripting, etc...

I still use mIRC, but its more of a habit than anything. There's plenty of great free IRC clients out there these days.
