Hi there, Im planning to start up on your server, when the technical world around me allow me to. And ive been lurking for some days, searching for info to help me make plans for starting up.. ..when its not possible to play, planning is the 2nd best..(behind alot of other stuff) I have a few questions, im pretty sure you can help me out answering Ive been playing uo on a few diffrent free shards, so i might have a twisted version of whats "normal", and i dont have much idea what stuff belongs to wich era. 1. Arms lore, does it give bonus to crafting? 2. Do i need blacksmithing and mining on the same char to be able to melt down craftet items with the best possible out come? 3. How does resurces spawn here? 3a. Does oak "drop" from a certain tree, or do any tree have the the chance? 3b. Is the Valorite node always valorite? 4. Does any of thies skills carry any notebel usability? Item Identification, Forensic Evaluation, Taste Identification, Cooking 5. Do mining give bigger range while digging up tresurechest? 6. ive read somwhere that there is a chance to get offered a bod if you have the demanded skill, when you sell an item. is that any item, only the first time or do i need to stack up on items i wanna sell, to sell them 1 piece at the time every 6th hour? on an end note, im from skandinavia, and it seams a big about of the player base is from the us, will i primerly be playing with macroing chars, or is there a eu player base? also any complains about my english, plz post them in your 2nd language As for now i cant come up with any more things ive been wanting to ask, might come when my mind starts wondering agien Looking to be able to start playing, and thanks in advance
Answered to the best of my knowledge: 1 - No. 2 - No. 3a - Yes, oak trees work like ore veins. 3b - Yes. 4 - Not really. Item ID is potentially getting a nice revamp soon though. (possibly being able to ID entire containers of items at once, TBD) Cooking is potentially getting changes too. 5 - Not sure. However you don't need it, unless you're trying to 'old school' treasure hunt (several players have public rune libraries to all possible treasure chest locations). 6 - You no longer need to sell items to trigger getting a BOD, just walk up to the appropriate vendor and say 'order status'. 7 - There is a fair amount of EU players on UOR, but the majority do seem to be based in North America. Welcome to UO:R!
#5 Yes, mining can increase the range. In practice there's no real need for mining though. Most people either use a database to get the precise coordinates or use one of the many t-map rune libraries.
Welcome to UOR! To be honest... Your English is better than most in the US that were raised special a king it. If you see me online, feel free to ask for assistance. Jump on IRC... People are very helpful there.
Thanks alot for the help, i found out i can play, thou on a unstable 2g connection, its possible, guess it just gives a bit of the feeling of 1998 and the dail up modem times. with rubberband and moving from one end of town to another to take ages with "step, step" loading next screen, repeat. also when i tab out to my browser ther eis a good chance i will get dc so far ive been keeping from battle, any battle, haven killed a single monster, sheep or any thing really, dont trust my connection. like i havent cast a single spell, even thou all my chars so far have magery, just cos i know when i first gets startet regs will get sucked out of my bags, and with a micro economy as im on right now not good Buuut any how im online, and have startet mostly just training up some chars, and a few more questions arose: is there some way to get my corps back when dying in the wild? yes, click it, but first i had to run out to find the wondering heeler, then run back to find my corps, wich seams easy, thou the forest looks all alike.. i ended up just calling it quits, and writh of my tamborins as a hornest lose, tame a mongbat for protection and head home to the safty of the town.. Lumbering oak, does it take 65 skill as in the later uo, or is the dif raised here? ive noticed my skills at higher the "real", guess from my stats.. as i want to make 75 tinkinkering lockboxes should i have real 75, or just 75? i was told i can maximum sell 5 items at the time, is tht true? or did i just mis understand something, now i just have my sell agent to max and spam vendor sell.. if i want to make a post about the hard life of starting as a new player, where is the the right forum to do that? salty dag? even thou its not rp lastly do any of you have any advise how to get my money flow startet? i have a crafter (in training), and i can collect some ressurces, but what kind of items should i be selling to make money? with prices fast falling when i sell stuff im not sure what to make to sell, think it was fancy shirts when i last played, still? (my first money, for tools and training i made from robbing escorts, 250 pr 5 min is good money when you have nothing, but there is a long way to that first house: 45k/250gpx5min=150hours, it should be abel to do better then that might a bit of a messy post, hope you can still help
I'll take a cracked at this. While I'm not sure about tinkering, you need 85 real skill in lj to harvest oak. A good and fairly safe way to make money early on is to gather raw resources and sell them to players. The yes you can only sell 5 items at a time to a very ndor. Assuming no one else has sold to said vendor, their prices begin to fall after 4 or 5 transactions. I believe it's 5. If you can pull it off, having runes to every vendor that will purchase your particular product can be a fairly easy way to make money in the beginning. Even if you'rejust selling raw wool and cotton . Fancy shirts will work too, but they don't stack. Hope this helps.
It's classic use is to measure the amount of wear on an item. When combined with wrestling, it has the special ability to disarm opponents.
