Or only allowed in t2a.... that would make terra keep and the titan valley so much fun. Do you remember sitting around Bucs Den with a squad of invised NPC archers.... waiting for someone to attack and then "all guard me".... Ahhhh that was fun.
I say yes if it takes 1 scroll charge and one from the rune book perma if only 11 int and 0.0 magers for 100% scuess like a red diamond on it or somthing and a warning lol
Erhm, no. That would be like saying I want to control a frenzied ostard with zero taming. If you want to recall then you want to play with a Magery play style then you need to train Magery, simples. It irks me when people say they dislike magic but want to use magic that suits them.
necroalert Then what is your opinion of having wrestling without wrestling? The addition of defensive wrestling was to help diversify templates. It's great and a multitude of characters reap the benefits. I tried to help diversify templates once... once.
that was the thing i didn't get about this whole thing. people acted like this was some huge deal....that other playstyles don't already have similar situations. when i was first getting into UO I read an essay someone wrote about some of the game's strong points, and he mentioned how "fast travel was like a fundamental right." guess that's not the attitude of a lot of people here. i mean I bit the bullet and put magery on my main axer, but considering things like the "defensive wrestling" combo it is kinda puzzling to me...
it'd bring some heavier risk/reward, since people would be playing dexxers and carrying runebooks more often. This helps greatly in promoting less of a tamer or pvp only lifestyle. I'd propose 6-7 seconds with a cooldown of 10 or so to make sure the toxic "hold recall whislt talkin classy" wouldn't be a thing. Anything to promote build variety. I know a disco/peace dexxer build that would thrive on this.
Wrestling without wrestling is junk IMHO. What a great way to nerf the physical kids against mages that already benefit from distance plus power plus low death risk. But let's say I'm completely wrong. Here are some other things we can have: Peace without musicianship Lock pick high level chests by combining Magery with lock pick High level maps dug up by anyone Cooking without cooking Poison weapons based on dexterity and Magery And many many more Because, diversity. That way people can have extra stuff instead of making the sacrifice to earn it, yay.
I'm going to reply to this thread one final time in hopes to clarify a few key items. To gain the full benefit of defensive wrestling here, your character must invest 100 points each in Anatomy and Evaluate Intelligence. This allows the following templates gain the benefits... As previously outlined in my post found HERE With 200 skill points (anatomy and evaluate intelligence) a character could have, bonus to spell damage bonus to melee damage bonus to "healing" (via the healing skill) and... defensive wrestling without wrestling (aka 100 skill point investment) You said, "That way people can have extra stuff instead of making the sacrifice to earn it, yay." However, three of your examples do not require a combo-investment of skill points? I'm confused as to the point you were trying to make. As written, I could easily assume it was more of an attempt to evoke emotion rather than defend your point of view. I will argue that either skill (anatomy, evaluate intelligence) is not a sacrifice when creating a template that is going for defensive capabilities that also would benefit from the aforementioned bonuses. Sathar, my overall objective with this post (that I had abandoned btw) was to provide "dexxers" the ability to get around in the world quickly without busting up 100 skill points in an already tight template to do so. I made a few suggestions as to investments that could be made and I most certainly never stated nor implied that my request was "magery without magery, yay". I suggested "investments" such as skill combination in alignment with popular "dexxer" skills, a gold sink (runebook), and even longer casting times to satiate the nervous pk's (which btw... smh lol@u for worrying about losing dexxer targets of all things).
This comment is simply a reply to the title of the thread. Recall should be disabled. Make PvP great again!
Sorry it was more of a throw away comment about defensive wrest, my post was more about the use of a skill without having said skill... Also I was being sarcastic with my suggestions as to illustrate why it's a bad idea. Just to clarify; want Magery, get Magery. Simples
I spent most of my Britannian youth in Ultima 6, where the Orb of the Moons let you go anywhere at anytime regardless of whether you ever cast a spell, so the idea of not having fast travel is bonkers to me. it doesn't even register as "magery" in my mind. Ultima is about teleporting, doing ridiculous things to people, and being racist to Gargoyles. the rest is just window dressing
death of the author, man. the thread got necro'd and now we must relive it. there is no escape! (also you both have horrible taste in video clips but I still love you)
I edited the last clip myself (Nostalgia Critic) and hand picked it for everyone post May 19 of this dead thread. No appreciation of efforts? ... and I will continue to troll as long as it's continuously revived.
