Definitely looking forward to all the new deco ideas available with all the new items added and the more available furny tubs!
Quick question, does the home have to be open to the public? or and it be a well decorated personal home with use + deco?
This looks like a great spot for a free plug. I take special orders for carpenter items. here is a like to my store http://uorforum.com/threads/christophers-home-goods-now-has-special-orders.5746/
Glad I came across this post, but regret I don't have the time to play any more to finish my other projects. I'll post the two houses that are more or less complete to get this show rolling! What initially drew me to UO was the selection of furniture in the game, however I was never a fan of "custom furniture". Layering cloth to make it look like water, for example, really bugged me, as I knew what it really was haha. So from the two houses below, you will find that I basically used furniture and items as they were intended to be used, except for a few minor customizations. I posted screenshots with and without transparency, as some elements are better seen with one view rather than the other. For the small house category I submit my Stone Shop from Occlo: This is a vendor house, decorated with realism in mind, with basic furniture. On the first floor is the shop with each vendor selling a different category of items according to what is laid out in front of them on the table. On the second floor is the workshop with the forge, tools, and some core materials What drew me to the stone workshop was the stone furniture, specifically the fence. I just love the look of the fences in general, and wanted to use them in an appropriate building. I was able to place the north and south fences quite easily, however I found it impossible to place a fence on the east side of the main floor. Every which way I tried, the fence just didn't look natural, so I didn't include it. On a side note, what I don't like about the stone fences is the way that the boards are oriented. To be at a somewhat appropriate height in relation to the stone pillars, the boards had to be placed on the inside of the house, instead of the outside - which would have made more sense. This was not a problem with the sandstone because the stone fence does not have a "pillar with railing" as one of the furniture pieces, but only detached pillars and railings. For the medium house category I submit my Sandstone from Yew: This is also a vendor house, and again decorated with realism in mind. Outside, under the balcony, is the stable, or more accurately a fence to tie your horse to while shopping. Items you would typically associate with a barn can be found here, including a steaming pile of dung. One custom element outside, if you can even call it that, is the keg tap attached to the wall, with water dripping into the trough. Inside the building, on the first floor is the vendor area, with stone vendors (I forgot to mention, this shop only sells stone, sandstone, and marble, and thats why I felt the sandstone was the most appropriate building type). Apparently the marble vendor packed up and moved on haha. What I like about this room are the shelves on the west wall, which are just benches raised up, but look very in place. Also the flickering candle is pretty cool, however not original. What is missing from this room is the green carpet inside the entrance; running low on platinum coins at the time of the decorating resulted in the empty void. The rooftop contains the workshop and the staff lounge, with a pile of ores ready to be smelted, a rack of shelves for the different ore types, and a staff table where one can enjoy some wine and a game of checkers. To me the coolest element of this house is the sandstone fence going around the roof. Hard to imagine that the fence alone took over 1000 sandstone to make, and yet looks like it came with the deed. This is what really appealed to me, and was the main reason I wanted to decorate a sandstone in the first place. Fence side note number two: The gap in the fence on the south west corner cannot be completed; because the entire west side of the fence is actually placed much further to the east, and raised to give the illusion of it being on the edge of the roof, there was nowhere to place the SW corner of the fence which would give the same effect. So instead I placed the pile of ore there, and the gap in the fence acts like a chute to dump discarded ore. Well, that was a walk down memory lane. I'm sure I missed some elements of these houses which I thought were just amazing when I was decorating, but this write-up will have to do. Cheers, and good luck to all the other contestants.
Entering Small House Category. Transylvania Jungle House! As you approach this small stone workshop surrounded by coconut palms in the middle of the jungle (south of Trinsic), you can see that someone evil and fashionable lives there. None other than Dracula, aka Vlad the Impaler. At the entrance you can see 2 marble pedistals with 2 heads on top of it. Also you can see a polar bear rug with a heart on top of it, some bone piles, candles, torches, an harp and marble benches where you can sit down, relax and appreciate the wilderness of this unique place. If you climb up the stairs, you will find a very fashionable bedroom in the second floor. Dracula has a hanging wall shield, a beautiful marble table, dried herbs, paintings, an outstanding stone chair where he can sit down and read/write his book, a pentagram and a gorgeous large bed where he can rest after a long night of blood sucking. Entering Most Unique Design Element. A Fireplace. And a TV.
I am submitting my Tower for the Large House Category: This is the main floor of the tower. Nice entry way and bedroom in the back. Unique design elements on this level would be the neat hanging weapons and the potted hanging wall flowers. This is the second floor. Here you will find all of your crafting needs! A workshop and a training area outside. This is the third floor of the tower. Here you will find the dining hall, complete with a fireplace and aquarium in one unit! Enjoy dinner with a little music as well. The unique design elements here would be the fireplace/aquarium combination. This is the top and final level of the tower. This is a ceremonial themed rooftop. There is a tub of ritual blood, music, thrones and more! The unique design element here would have to be the bubbling pond.
