I would love to have a + durability bonus from arms lore. E.G. a smith creates an item exceptionally there is the same chance to have the plus HP or a slower deterioration rate like a 'hardening' 35 - 50 - Durable +5 to item HP 50 - 70 - Substantial +10 to item HP 70 - 80 - Massive +15 to item HP 80-99 - Fortified +20 to item HP at GM - Indestructible +25 to item HP
Let's see if I can piss you off even more by reminding you that plate armor has the exact same armor value as bone armor and of course as we all know bone armor incurs no dex loss.
Oh, I forgot... actually bone is MORE armor value than plate. Bone armor doesn't have a gorget. It's ULTIMA science!
Depends - the well honed iron first of a Praying Mantis warrior could easily jar your brain into unconsciousness right through your platemail. It might prevent you from being killed outright from the strike, but could certainly still knock you out.
Yeah I could also use my tongue to pop out one of my own teeth and spit it right through a mage's eye and through the back of his skull but you don't see me cockwalkin' youngeon!
---- Yah so anyway, I GM'd Arms Lore last week, Ive just been too busy with work (re: lazy) to test out the disarm/steal macro You will all soon get a detailed report of how useful Arms Lore really is As for ringmail and platemail - like a lot of things in UO, Id love some slight rule tweaks to give it at least some relevance in our virtual world. Right now the only use for platemail I see is when you have a noob char that needs to thwack a GM'd char to raise skill. Not to diverge too much, but when I was playing on UO Angel Island, the Spirit Speak skill was used to create a HoT for your summons, and make your summons extremely resistant to the Dispel spell by NPCs. You could actually be viable in PvM with summoned deamons and elementals, with GM Spirit Speak. It made for great alt PvM templates for when youre totally bored of Musicianship! Platemail = resist stun punch? Sounds good to me. Ringmail = ... yah cant think of anything there lol. But something!
This makes a lot of sense. Everything is a weapon, really. The blade might be the nastiest one against you, but the shoulder pauldrons, elbow reinforcement, wrist guards, knee cap, ankle spurs, helmet parts, spear butt, shield edge, even one's hip, can prove to be bone crushing weapons. I could see GM armslore giving a stun punch to warriors - you got too close and she tricked you out with her blade feints only to lure your noggin into an elbow strike from some metal armor >:-}
A wee bit of necromancy on the thread here... but ever had a full face metal helmet on and been hit on the head hard? It is very effective at disorientating the wearer. A pommel strike was literally used to do this exact thing. But that's historical accurate and this is UO! Actually come to think of it, the Black Knight fight in Monty Python's The Holy Grail I do wish bone had less AR though. And then there's non magical shields being worse than faction shields... More plate viability please!
