Hello - I've had a few fire horns laying around, so I took them out to have some fun. I timed it and 3 were "destroyed" in 12 minutes after 8 uses as well as a considerable amount of ash. music/provocation/peacemaking/discordance/magery/meditation/hiding Anyone use these regularly? What have your results been? Do you like them? How do you feel about a 16% chance of them breaking? Is 16% reasonable? Can this thread exist without mentioning tamers more than this one time? Taken from the compendium - The Fire Horn is used by Bards to do Fire Damage to enemies. They can be found on various Monsters. The amount of the damage done depends on your barding skills. The higher the three bardings skills are, the more damage will be done. One has to be rather close to the target as the range of the attack is only 3 tiles. When used there is a small delay until it can be used again and also there's a 16% chance that it will break. If used against another player the fire horn will do less damage than against a monster and it can be used while you are hiding. Damage Formula: If Monster: total = prov + disc / 5 + peace / 5 If Player: total = (prov + disc / 5 + peace / 5) / 3 maxDamage = ( total * 2 ) / 30 minDamage = ( maxDamage * 7 ) / 10 Staff Note: This item has not received a full review in line with the design goals of UO:Renaissance.
HI. I don't use the fire horn often, as my bard only has two of the bard skills. Music and Provoke, so damage done is not as great as if she had three bard skills. I think they are fine as is. thanks for posting this and fun pic.
Something is not right with your formula, I think. Is there a /5 missing at provo? MaxDmg would be way to low (below 10 HP), even without an additional division by 5 of the provo skill.

Hmm, are there any pure bards out there? Should I just become one of the cool kids and make a damn tamer? I'm getting content jealousy.
