Ever see "7x skill balls for all new players" as an ad for a shard? Bet you have.

The busiest shard has skill balls, actually. And skill scrolls. And increased skill gain in dungeons. Just saying.

For an established player who has the gold, resources, and ability to have chars macroing while at work or wherever else all day, sure. 4-5 days. Not everyone has the luxery. If i were looking for people to pvp with or events to fill up, i would rather those people interested have the ability to do that sooner rather than later. 7x gm balls i dont agree with though. Those are not a reason why a shard would die. 2 of the most populated shards im uor free shard history have those. One is still slowely dieng in which skill gain/ balls have had no effect and the other is still currently the most populated. That being said i hate the idea of 7x gm donation balls. Increased dungeon skill gain though, i see no negative. Only encouragment of players actually getting out. I really have no idea why there are people who would rather see bank and house afkers than something that would get people to gain skill from actually being at their computer.

Skill gain is ok here. Not great and not terrible. Taming is super easy here. About afk possible as most other skills. Lumberjack is the pain. I hate that skill. But anyway, im suggesting a small dungeon skill gain increase as a catalyst to get less people afk skill gaining and actively increasing gains. Any vets remember bone knight walls raising parry and cross healing? We are constantly asked by new players does anyone actually play here or does everyone just afk

Just figured I would throw my opinion out there. I do not completely have a grasp upon the current goings on with UOR since I am just coming back. However, I have always felt that it is very hard to get into PvP. I mean really groups get together and roll together to fight and/or PK but to get into one of these groups as a new guy that has little to no skill in PvP is tough. I mean a newb or two in an established group can effectively get the group killed.

How does one break into the PvP scene? In production UO there were lots of guilds that recruited and would show you the ropes, at least to the point where you could maybe help and not get everyone killed and help out a bit. This is a smaller scale here obviously, but maybe that is the key to getting more PvPers is to make them. Some of those 10-15 should maybe make a couple of guilds and recruit a bit. Put a few newbs out in the field, spar with them teach them. It was mentioned that people have taught before and their student quit. Keep teaching and hopefully they stick to it, if not maybe the next one will and so on. Maybe that 10-15 active will turn into 20-30.

Hell, if some of you decide to do this PM me. I will gladly join. I love to PvP but I am super terrible at it, play odd hours, and am socially awkward sometimes :p

I know there was mention of the RP guilds that are around, that is an amazing way to get involved in small scale PvP with not a lot to lose. It is low pressure you can even fight with other RP folks one on one if you want and set up skirmishes with opposing groups. Heck you may even enjoy the whole RP aspect and make 6 or 7 Guardsmen or Brigands like I have with Orcs.

Sorry for the ramble...friggen Orcs love to Blah.

I agree. There is no harm in letting reds enter guarded towns.

    if:
    RED attack BLUE > Guards
    BLUE attack RED > PvP

Ok, so I have come back to uoren after a bit of time out, since returning i mainly socialise/pvm with PS. I have attempted to pvp since my return and (although i put it down to being in the uk) i find it hard to find any action at all. I played catskills and siege on osi and both a pro's and con's. both had hotspots for pk which do not exist here. All i have seen is the only way to get into any sort of pvp is to either search for the "few" people hunting in dungeons (whom can recall rather quickly) or join a well established group. On siege any red could walk into town and those who wanted to pvp could attack, on catskills you could head to yew moongate, brit gy or bucs tower and almost all reds were welcome to use houses to hide out but blue's also knew this was the place to go.

to say reds should not enter town as its a "safe" place is ridiculous, as you are more likely to be killed by a blue in town than a pk in a dungeon, so really i dont see what all the fuss is about. I would welcome reds being allowed in town. Recently i had some old friends who were PVP orientated join the server and they left within days (they were from the us so timezone wasnt the issue) they just couldnt find any pvp in dungeons or out.
Also i agree with the previously stated there is SO MUCH on this server to do solo that it does drag a proportion of the playerbase from the active world.
