I have proposed some old fashioned pick up games to my crew. There are 4 of us so we are gonna do some 2 on 2s outside our homes. Our houses are too small to do inside but if we are playing with a bag full of junk in starter clothes and carrying nothing of value on us, even if we get PKed there, it will just slow us down. Honestly our plan is to just invite people for the next game if PKs show up... What are people proposing in terms of a ball? If we are going to practice, we should maybe do it with something we can all agree to use as a ball. There are farms and fields all over the place. I wonder if the staff would be willing to drop some 1000 stone balls in them for people to show up and play pick up. I suppose someone could drag it around put of there but i am sure there can be some sort of re-spawn effect or something. Freak, and Codus - a) I qualify as a stoner b) there are 4 of us so if it is going to be 3v3 and everyone will want to play we will have 1 too many players.
My plan is to use a locked dyed chest with heavy stuff in it for matches, for practice I would recommend a non dyed one cause some fool will gate it out. I doubt staff would spawn balls in random fields, they would instantly become a deco item. now if one could be tied to a field or area... Knights Forge will be unlocked for public use once the pitch is up
Halabinder - What I remember as the official ball should be a regular bag (NOT a backpack or a pouch) from the provis vendor. Dye that bag the same yellow color that items look when you mouse over them so that its harder to recognize your over it. And fill w/ anything you dont find valuable and don't mind losing should someone want to ruin your fun. Bigger teams would mean bigger fields and I dont have space for a field so once someone makes one or we figure out where to play.. we can figure out teams.. If you find somewhere thats big enough for 8 people to run around... do it up.. I just know i used to really like this and I havn't seen it yet here so i brought it up. Ill run around the world tonight looking for a nice spot to play in the open world and try and make a easy set up "field"
Locked wont matter - if someones a jerk they can still smash it w/ an ax and ruin your fun. I think the chest is prolly a little too big and you cant run through it. BAGGGGGGBALLLLLLLL (w/ bags)
Forgot about not being able to run thru it. Lets get this kicked off with the bag then, dyed of course. If this takes off, I can see leagues and tourneys! and perhaps some staff love
like i said .. if i had money id run a player tounery w/ prizes like the fishing ones that go on.. but for now.. i just wanted to see if people wanted to play (Thanks a lot for setting up a indoor field btw.. you rock)
I was going to suggest a little bag also. It looks like a ball. And I think something small would actually be better than something large. Make it harder to grab on to and move. I hope this takes off. It has real potential. I can see guild leagues. We should put together a UOR Olympics!!! There is the summoner/runner race and bagball. We could have actual PvP duel competition 1v1, 2v2, 3v3. We can have a boxing competition. We can have a fists only last man standing Royal Rumble! Or a weapons and spells included last man standing royal rumble. Or both. Like a good 2 week long Sports Events Themed thinger bobber. We could call it Telamon's Special Olympics.
The size of the object won't matter because most would just grab it by CTRL+SHIFT anyway. Bagball was one of the most fun events they ran on UOSA in their heyday.
Yeah fair enough Blaze, but I think if it is a large object like the ball from the video I would rather grab it than the bar. Plus I can only do CTRL+SHIFT in spurts. Grab what I need and let go. It stacks what u want with other things if they are too close (unless there is an unstack option I haven't tried). I have never tried bagball so I don`t know what it will be like in practice. But if there are a lot of objects and people around it may stack things in front of the ball and completely defeat the purpose. I`ll let u know after I try it sometime.
The only time I've played it, I didn't use Ctrl+Shift because it was just a normal bag that couldn't be opened and weighed way too much to move with it. Just click and drop when your teammate is ready to grab it, closer to the goal.

The regular bag should absolutely be the the only sanctioned bagball! A bagball game was one of the first player-run events I attended in UO and use some other item will seriously harsh my nostalgia buzz. . .
YES PLEASE!!!!!!!! especially on the fists only royal rumble....toss in a requirement for everyone to down a few bottles of booze! That makes me want to work on a wrestler now haha.
The drunken wrestling Royal Rumble!!!! That sounds amazing!!!!!! I have some other ideas. One that I am pretty sure will work but I need space to test it. I'm working on the space part. I'm hoping to replicate football. Defense gets clubs and offense gets fists. A certain number of Ofense get shields but they can't carry the ball and score. Say like 3/5 get shields. One of the other two will carry the ball. Can pass it freely to other guy. The aim is to carry it across the field like in football. The D has to either kill and loot the ball off a ball carrier, or kill both ball carriers. The 3 Shield carrier guys in O have to provide a shield wall for their teammate with the ball. Depending on the size of the field, each side could have a caster help with wall of stone. As i said, I need space to test it but it could work.
Here are a couple of quick lay out options in a Tower. One is wide and short and the other is long and narrow. I think the best you're gonna get in a Tower is a 2v2 high scoring tourney. But might be fun anyway. I'll try to put up a tower somewhere close to a town or moongate on Test for people to try it out. Keep in mind you won't be able to leave cloth on the field because it creates issues when you go to drop the bag on it!
I just realized the net closest to the door in the short and fat field is too big! This reminds me of getting home from school as a little kid and using my bag pack as a goal post to play soccer with other kids. Someone was always arguing their net was too big or the other team's was too small. They were right half the time too. It's not like Real Life has tiles for you to measure things out in...
Totally digging the UOR Olympics idea. I'd be glad to host a Sprint for it anytime, just let me know. *stumbles around blindly looking for a referee*
Vlar Vlar Vlar. Has no one told you of the percs of being a referee? People pay Refs to fix matches! It will be a great source of income. I'm thinking up ideas for new activities. Unfortunately I'm having a hard time with "combat" activities. Thinking of an American Gladiator kind of thing, just need to figure out how to do it. I also want a gambling house eventually.
