    Hello future bards of UOR,

having seen some requests for provo house access gone unanswered, especially during EU times, I decided to install another barding house in Ocllo. However, in this case, the barding house access isnt restricted and always open. I expect the members of the UOR community to manage their griefing habbits by themselves and let newbie toons finish their barding skills in peace. This is naturally a high expectation considering the amount of bored maniacs around, so in case you experience griefing, I encourage public shaming of idiots in IRC and in this thread. I will always try to ban harassing people swiftly.

Enjoy and long live UO Renaissance.

    Bonus:

Here are some links to guides that explain how to GM barding skills and the use of barding houses.
    - RIN's guide
    - Oldschool 2013 guide from Wil
    - Wodan's guide

Hint: The guides usually state that you need ~74-75 barding skills for the barding house method.

    That's not the case:
    1) Nobody forces you to lure pirates into the house, choose easier monsters... for example combine a pirate sailor with a harpy/giant spider/orc when you are training provocation...
    2) If the sailors or other monsters you want to provoke/peace/disco are too tough, you can make to the barding attempt easier--> use player made GM barding instruments and decrease the difficulty by 10 points. This way, one could theoretically start provoking pirate sailors at ~65.0 skill points. Do not forget to switch back to NPC shop instruments once you hit ~75 skill points.

Very nice! It make me sad to see an old request for provo house access that may have gone unanswered. We try to monitor for them but can’t always respond quickly to everyone.

I just finished an overnight stay. The service was great, the amenities plentiful, the furnishings thoughtful, and the complimentary continental breakfast diverse and flavorful.

    8/10 would stay again

So what's the best way to macro bard skills once your young status wears off? I'm a dexxer but want to add musicianship and provocation. Thanks

Thanks for the use of your public Provo House @BlackEye

Came in with 73.2 Real skill (73.7 Shown) and it started gaining right away. I think I've normally been able to start sailors at 72 in the past.

Thanks @Raag74 for the tambourine's, I'll pay it forward

I am a bit surprised how well frequented it is. I am glad, the community accepts it and doesnt grief newer players so far.

Thx for showing people the way, @Earsnot.

I'm surprised. Kept getting griefed even in the locked one when I did my first provo, someone decided they had to EQ the sailors down from outside...

    Thanks for providing this, though.

I just have reinstalled 2 sailors to the provo house. In that process RaajsBODjer was killed. Sorry for that! I was trying to heal you but I failed :(

So Hadrian, do I understand that right, that you used a [young] status toon to lure ratmen to the 24/7 open provo house for killing macroing bards?

I just want to make sure that the right person lands on my shit list. :D

    Dearest Blackeye,

Please do not be so quick to claim young-abuse when it is merely that I have no characters available to me at the moment.
This issue would not have arisen if I had not been looking to fully go through the new player 'experience'. (always skipped it)
I was just looking to see what I could do.. within the confines of the island.

I have raised a bard in the past, playing the game, not stuck in 'the trance' of being afk, which these houses fully promote.
True their lives did not have to be forfeit. Those fine Sosarians could have... you know.. killed the ratman at any time. If only they were not caught in the trance.

A true struggle it is to become grandmaster of a skill, one of the best farming skills in the game.

How much was my boat, a fair price.. how long was the sail to the isle of wyverns.. a fair distance.
By all means please direct them, that is why I left a book within your abode.

I would apologize if it had not been such a technical feat to minion loot.
There are flaws with the new player experience, I have not found them all yet.

The idea of an open house is very inviting. I will have to visit again sometime. :D

    Dear Hadrian,

I respect your open words and your quick admittance of young-abuse guilt. I would respect you much more, if you wouldn't hide behind the young status though, but whatever, this is your decision. About the patrons in my barding house: you are right, they are fair game, especially when they aren't [young] anymore. I am sure nobody of them will cry too much about it. On the other side, I will make sure to point their anger in the right direction towards you. There is nothing more fun, than some ingame vendettas and retribution. At least, it's some kind of social interaction, right?

Btw, your concept of bard training needs some improvement it seems. There is a clear reason, why people have to use barding houses with sailors and can't stay in the Ocllo Dungeon or the Zoo forever. Maybe you should try training a bard yourself one day.
There is also a reason, why the OPEN barding house is more used than the others... being open... in contrast to being closed... you know. o_O

    I do halfheartedly agree.

The same method could have been done with or without the status, the only convenience was the instant log out.
Looting players via Ratmen was definitely not a convenience.

The first bard felled had returned before I fetched the hell hound.. he could have protected his brethren of the musical arts, he could have reset the pirate trap.. but as most in the community, he took his easy gains and went on his merry way. Yes my friends, this is felluca.

It is an honor to be on your shit list. I am looking forward to the new year.
