Im not trying piss anyone off or make enemies. I received an offer that I felt would not be matched by anyone and just because it was a private accepted bid, it doesn't make me a fraud.
I contacted the leading bidder privately and appraised them of the situation out of respect to them.( and i do not respect him at all)
There's nothing more that I could have done to close this bid as peacefully as possible without causing a ruckus, which has happened anyways. I apologize again.
It is a blessing and a curse to get these rare items, I have to deal with aggressive pixel collectors and no matter how I handle it, someone might get upset. Next time I sell an item I may request no private bids and have a buyout.I agree what happened with the boots was in bad form. I was well within the rules, but I would be annoyed if it happend to me on something I bid on.

That being said, Im just gonna keep the damn boots for now, they smell like dumpster fire anyways.

bud, I have no personal beef with you but that move was dumb even just for your own selfish reasons, you could have just announced someone placed a “private bid” (whatever that means) and guess what, someone else could have give you even more money that this “mysterious bidder”.

If you are looking to maximize your revenue, its in your interest to make it as much public as possible...

Attention all units we have a trade crime in progress, over.

Oh well well well whuddoo we have here? Shenanigans I see!

This seems like an open and shut case frankly, the evidence is all in order.

@O'Malley you are hereby charged with unlawful discontinuation with an auction which had received bids, a violation of trade forum etiquette and general trustworthiness.

While this is not punishable under current laws (weak though they be) I'm considering issuing you a citation for "reckless auctioneering".

The most appropriate current action would be to pay some modest compensation to bidders on this auction who had time stolen from them by this aborted auction, in order to repair the once good name of citizen @O'Malley.

Citation will be withheld pending a plea from the defendant.

The defendant's plea is hereby accepted, note he is to be praised for his willingness to correct this miscarriage of justice.

The court hereby asks members of the jury (the public) for recommendations concerning an appropriate compensation. A fine will not be collected by the court itself providing appropriate restitution is made.

*didnt like that reply, wants to try again*

i hear by plead not guilty on the fact that the leading bidder hates me, and also ending my bid due to a private bidder sale, while maybe in bad form, is well within the trading forum rules. Also using any character witnesses and other trade forum interactions in my defense please.

While not the best move, he is well into his rights to pull an item from auction. If it becomes a re-occuring theme, then there is a problem, but accidents happen, mistakes were made, apologies were issued. Less Butt-hurt, more gameplay please.

It's crazy to think that anyone can tell someone not to take a private offer. I was Consulted by both parties involved over the boots. I was asked for Validation By the good @O'Malley after being contacted by the other party whom wishes to be remained in the shadows. I will say that he is well within his rights to pull an item at any time.

I have made trades with @O'Malley in the past
As well as the other party. (whom I have sold my top selling items to recently excluding the Marble lot 6 keep)

I have dealt with @Fatty Mike before as well. We are pretty mutual on sales and I will direct this towards him now. The offer that was made is beyond what you would've paid for these boots brother, upsetting I know. Maybe asking @O'Malley the exact amount was, would've been the better approach. It's just my opinion man. May not be worth much but I refuse to let @O'Malley 's name get dragged through the mud over pixel.

I was asked how well I knew @O'Malley and I replied very well, that he is a good dude. He asked if I would validate for him. I said yes absolutely.
I was then asked about wether or not the person who made the offer was good for the offer by @O'Malley ,

Just to clarify. That is all.

it's one of those things man. I just didn't like the fact that he basically advised that someone offered something and it was a done deal. A PM that advised I was offered this "$$" in trade/items/coinage which equals x amount of pixel gold would you be willing to pay more.

Just having the opportunity to counter would have been nice. These boots weren't even for me they were a gift for someone that has a phat blaze set and the boots would have synced his outfit. All in all it was just a shitty situation and hopefully next time if an offer is made to give your top bidder the chance to counter.

I never understood the private offer buy outs either, it benefits the seller more to list it. If someone doesn't want their name attached to an item, they can always give the gold to a friend and have them bid for them. I think Omalley learned his lesson though and probably wont make the same mistake any time soon.
