i guess what really bugs me about all of these random, left-field ideas is that there are existing problems with the code base that have gone looked over for years and these hair-brained ideas of yours distract from existing issues that good software development practice dictate should be fixed before writing new code.
How do they distract from anything? This is just conversation for the people. Not mandates for the staff. I know you're a huge fan of mandates for the staff, but I assure you, I don't and won't make them. Well, aside from mandating that I will quit if there are ever beetles implemented here. lol You talk to Chris in PMs too. Feel free to ask him how many times I wave a poll or thread in his face and say "SEE THE PEOPLE WANT IT, DROP WHAT YOU'RE DOING AND MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!" Chris knows well and good what he's working on and how to prioritize it. There is no way that a thread talking about something is going to make him drop anything more important to work on an idea, if he doesn't see it as something that will really benefit UOR or his goals for it. In fact, that is one of the most commonly misguided wastes of space in posting that exist on forums. Players weighing in to say "There are more important things to work on". No fucking shit there are more important things to work on. On what planet does that mean discourse about ideas should cease completely? lol
There is one mountless world I hope returns this fall: Night of Horrors! I don't think that will be the case unfortunately but I would love it if we had that again this coming Halloween and not all "AMIB type" instances like Christmas... Certainly a side note, but it is a mountless scenario!
because it's distracting. to expound: telamon listens to the community and often times (whether or not he'll admit it) gauges the priority of a prospective change based upon the pressure which the community is placing upon him to make the change. littering the forums with books and books of long threads about random ideas places varying amounts of pressure on telamon to perform random tasks as well as cluttering up what are usually fairly organic issues that are being posted about. does this help?
Every bump helps. Thanks for supporting the idea. Let's hope Telamon notices and implements this post haste! CTF does not have a Felucca ruleset and is not a permanent place for players to enjoy without mounts.
I got used to no mounts on Angel Island and eventually started to LIKE it. A small area designated as "no mounts" might be fun.
Magery and tame free dungeon? You mean create an area that allows me to know what type of player victims reside therin, thus helping me better prepare? Yes, please.
Actually, no. I couldn't bring myself to. Tamers only. Everyone else actually has my default level of respect. Good point about Wind. A point about wands. They say, a good defense against wands is... wands. Woe to the wandless who wander with witless wonder in this wicked wandy world.
I like the idea! Great Idea with no magery, no tames, no mounts area with a boss at the end. Could open up Ishenar and use that as the area. Obviously stealing and PKing should stay…PK's make the game more fun. Make an entrance city with a stable and a bank etc Would be great! on a side note.. I like the idea of the hitching post on the front of your house. Automatically dismounts you and would auto remount too would be uber sweet.
I seem to recall a time on Atlantic, before mounts, that the PKs simply hung out at the entrances to dungeons waiting for victims to try to get in. So, I don't know how often they would sweep a dungeon on foot. If we are putting in wish lists, I'd like to be able to talk while hidden again. Make it so!
