Me too, as a thief or not.

I used to (as a red, since you didn't get kicked from the TG on SP for murder couns) put on the Disguise kit, then, with my brother, Wydstrin, we'd do the "NPC Walk" in the woods as wandering healers. We did NOT get noticed by most players unless we wanted to be noticed. Made for some great ambushes, too. XD

ProTip: Check the paperdoll, if it has a 'profile' scroll, IT ISN'T A REAL WANDERING HEALER!

    Muhahahahahahahaha

Creativity is key. Although most things in the game have been done before. You can add a new twist to an old lick.

I will give one single piece of advice that Blackeye has already touched on. Stealing allows you the opportunity to get an item from other players in safe zones they can't be killed in.

You might say "Now Meradin who want's a single item?" Well some items create opportunities for more advanced forms of stealing. When I kill someone or snoop in someone's bag I am looking for ONE thing, I could careless about anything else.

I don't spell things out for people because I feel it should be earned. Anyway Good Luck!

I do this here as an npc's escort with dp weapon to kill with on the other side of my escorts gate. . One time someone gated me into their cy to gate me to my dungeon?? I could not keep being an npc and had to tell them the gig was up and don't gate anything into thier cy and did not follow with me
    even trying my assassination.

Just had my first night as a thief, an I'm really confused.

Uhm, am I missing something? Thievery feels really strong to me. I don't know what the hourly income of most endgame skills is, but Thievery feels pretty steady in terms of income. And if you're not stealing something valuable, you're stealing something funny. I haven't done the math for everything I stole yet, but I think I pulled like 10k in loot just from hopping around cities tonight. I can guarantee at least 6k from 3 picks I made. Is that really bad income, or is that an atypical night for a thief?

Considering a tamer can make 60K an hour at bloods or gazers....

Fair enough. Okay I'll have to step it up then. Still, can't say I feel weak as a thief. It's working out pretty well so far. More of a labor of love I guess.

Also aren't tamers "overpowered" or something? I've heard people say or imply that at least.

It has highs and lows. One minute I'm stealing a tinker tool, next minute I'm hopping a gate and landing in someone's courtyard.... heart races on those. Will he detect? Will he detect? Hand off mouse, can't move... omg he's not detecting.. OMG he's recalling?

I ca... I can't believe he recalled? Horrry shiet. Okay hand back on the mouse... can't focus mouse on door... hand shaking... calm down

    * chugs coffee *

I'm in! Look at all those chests in there!!!! Too bad it's going to be loc... IT'S NOT LOCKED? WHATDAFAQ!!!!!!!!!!

I'm usually pretty chill but, when I B&E I tend to loose my shit and the long and boring lull of low quality steals is quickly forgotten.

Considering a thief can make several million in less than an hour.

This moment is why I am here. I have been apart of and landed some big scores here. I have recently taken to forced entry tho. That is a little more consistent than unlocked doors or gate hoping CY's.

I can attest to meradin, being excitable during thoughts same situations. somthing along the lines of "omfg bigshow the house fell down where are you, hurry up gate to the house!" With more profanity of course.

Big scores are few and far between and I don't play much anymore. But I have the most fun with my disarm thief. Not that I need another vanq spear, but the enjoyment I get from getting the best of someone who can't kill me, and I can just steal whatever they have, has become the only enjoyable thing.

After GM'ing, I spent most of my time just stealing. I do it for the love of the steal, so the loot is secondary. But every day there are plenty of new and experienced players alike at banks with vanq & slayer weapons, commodity deeds, bods, piles of gold, even boat & house keys, etc. Patience and determination pay off in the end, and of course it pays to be at the right place at the right time. Many players are creatures of habit with somewhat predictable schedules and marked locations.

Having said that, I spend most of my time these days looking for rares, and also sometimes going dungeon crawling for chests and loot-filled players. House looting is great, but unless you spend a lot of time watching your mark and working on timing, it's a lot more difficult to pull off than stealing inside Ocllo bank, for example. I'm more interested in opportunity than payout, so I usually do my stealing at the bank or around town.

Also, I really get a kick out of seeing victims running around all pissy. Even when they manage to find and kill me, it's hilarious, because I get the goods out of my pack as soon as possible. They strut around acting victorious while in reality their loot is sitting securely in my bank box where it belongs. I like to thank these marks for clearing my permagray after I dumped their goods. Of course, that just pisses them off even more, but then again some people just can't accept a thank you.

So that's what I've done since GM'ing: run amok and stir everyone else up at the same time. Fun, fun!

Most tamers are actually kind of weak. Separate them from their dragons/nightmares and they're easy prey. But if they have decent pets do all the work killing for them, sure, they can seem overpowered.

And I must say, when people start collecting your head, you know you're doing something right. Especially when they didn't even kill you, but stumbled upon your corpse after you suicided to clear a permagray!

I don't know, maybe that's the only way they can get head. I know @Meradin has a fetish like that. Of course, you have to ask youself: is it the real Judd, or the copycat?

I only put personal bounties on people who don't actively play the game that I want dead, or to see dead. It is well known that Judd is Christoph Brocks alt forum account. I have trouble finding either in the areas I frequent. (Outside of guard zones).
