If that stays at 750k id be surprised to be honest. You might want to set a limit on how much you're willing to spend.

    LOL?!?!?!

My brother had one character. One. He started him in '98. He GM'ed taming in 2002. And he always played the one character taming everything he came across.

Aaaaaah the "good" old days, where GM resist was basically a wet dream.

I personally did not know anyone with GM resist back in the day. When my brother got taming, it was a big deal in our little circle. So was when he and our friend finally got magery. But you saw some people with 7X. They were the ones that flagged on purpose just to get 5 noobs to attack them at a bank and then proceed to own all of them. And then the few with fast internet... the jerks o_O

Totally, you'd hear about one dude in a guild having a cable modem and if you ever saw them you'd start planning your walk to the healers.

I remember thinking that if you had anything over 70 in a skill you were basically ready to go playing full time on characters with 64 parrying and 62 swordmanship was just standard.

Any time I end my play session early it's cause I lost runebooks

I don't really see the point. They don't cost much gold so they're not really a gold sink, they just cost a lot of time.

20-30 minutes to re-mark 6-7 different spots. And then maybe you lose a dungeon runebook so that's a few thousand gold and time to find a vendor selling it.

I don't care about the gold, I get the risk vs reward but the runebooks is just tedious.

I usually carry two runes max, one is to a city bank, the other is either to my target farming location or to a rune library that has a wide selection of spots to go to

Same, safe bank spot & safe grey spot, both named other locations.

I once killed a dude who had one rune on him called "Your Moms place"

I knew I should of just left it but intrigue got the better of me and I recalled to it.

    Ogre Spawn.

I love this shard so much, but I find myself gravitating more often to one where all runebooks are blessed and it's easier to get around and explore the world.

I do see the appeal in making it a goal to work toward, but 2.5m is pretty prohibitive for newer players and I don't think "stay logged in 24/7 for 9 months to collect plat" is a reasonable expectation.

After three months of playing here I bought my first blessed runebook, which I was only able to do because of a generous gold donation. On my own it would have taken a year or more. I was excited to get the book, and then I realized it just made it even more frustrating to play my characters that didn't have one. So now I mostly just log in for plat. Wish things were different but it is what it is.

I like how much risk is added by unblessed runebooks.

I love that. I'm down to risk 10-20k gold for every death, easily.

It's just the tediousness of either, pulling runes out of the book and only carrying 2 runes at a time (this leads to runebooks getting all mixed up as you pull out and return runes) or occasionally carrying the books when you're in a rush or w/e and then you risk having to go through the tedium of re-marking multiple runes

And like Soma said, it's great to get a blessed runebook, but you really need like 5-6 blessed runebooks lol I donno

It's a super punishing mechanic when contrasted against instanced dungeons and instanced PvP and super safe banks

Maybe a better system would be allowing us to visit the mage guild leader and ask him to summon our runebook

Have him charge a fee of 500 gold + 1k per rune.

The 1k per rune is deposited in whatever container the runebook is summoned from, in check form.

This would be a really cool way for PK's to make some bank, while ensuring we don't have all this wasted time.

What's strange is the ones that aren't blessed, still aren't stealable.

They have no weight, so you cannot target it directly. Only way to steal them is to do a random pull and hope to get lucky.

...as far as I know. Have never played a thief.

Unless you hired mages in Wind and had them stand inside guard protection and blast you while you stood out of it. No damage taken; GM resist still took days though.
