My custom art files include: Roof-less buildings Wall-less buildings Hued ground tiles for field spells Short wall of stones Mini-robes Mini-cloaks Adjusted gumps Trees = stumps Dragon/WW/AW = Lord Blackthorne Rocks & stalagmites = red ground tiles Walkable ground tiles (within wilderness region) = invisible, so you just see grass Demons = Lord British Scrolls = spell icons, instead of generic scrolls, so you can tell what they are without clicking them. Hued dungeon traps for easy visibility I've also experimented with non-UO graphics in UO. You can use any image imaginable in replacement of in-game stuff. You could literally bring Diablo and his buddies into your UO experience. On one of my friend's machines, I turned all the human heads to look like one of his childhood photographs I had scanned in. I did not tell him about this and one day he happened to come across a head and as you can imagine, the results were hilarious.
I don't understand the modded client thing. I mean, you guys must obviously love UO or you wouldn't be playing. Why try to change it into something else? Most people's house deco and wardrobe are eyesore enough for me. Mod a client to fix the glitchy short spear graphic or patio fencing and I'll use that. . . Seriously. . . That's a request. . . Please!
I personally don't mod my client but as to your not understanding others reasons I can help. Clearly panda plays to be a successful pk. His mods all seem to help in that quest. So he mods to help become a more successful pk.
Yeah, I get it. . . The peformance enhancing client! I just needed a sarcastic way to segue into "Why doesn't anyone mod clients for people who like to practice their Elizabethan English in multiplayer video games."
If you're playing any free server these days, you're playing a game that is utilizing the Ultima Online engine - none (most) of us are playing UO anymore.
I wish Tela could make it so if any of the muls were edited the client wouldn't connect. I could edit things all day long to make it easier on me, but it doesn't feel right. Stop looking for cheap ways to gain advantages over players and get talent instead.
I could care less what mod's he uses or creates for his visual effects. I like the sights and sounds of UO as is. However, what's in the mind of a professional "PKer" is intriguing. Gain whatever ingots of info you can while he's still here passing it out like candy 'cause when it's gone, it's gone.
It's not for visual effects, by all means it's cheating that isn't declared cheating cause they can't do anything about it. If you want respect from me and other folks you wont cheat for advantages. And that's all it is, getting advantages over other players because you apparently have to have every edge you can get because you aren't good.
A few things I'd like to add to this otherwise great guide: 1) You can set up a hidden player using ItemID and targetting player types, if he is hidden and the macro is well written, he will essentially serve as a bot that will warn you anytime someone enters a specific area using comm crystals. Having a friend or two to help you out can allow you to scout 3-4 locations and warn you if a player is nearby. 2) Attack Last Combatant/Target Closest Innocent is immensely useful against players that hide and enter/exit caves. 3) Runebooks can be placed on a dedicated tracker char, just make sure your runes are marked away from hotspots and that when you find someone open the gate for your PK. This means that you won't be carrying your runebooks if you die and should you need to gate in/out, it won't drain your PK's mana pool. Blessed runebooks make this a moot point, but not everyone has 1000 plat! 4) Loot can be dropped into a Patio from outside the house using circle of transperancy, a spare loot-patio will allow you to gate heavy loot for later sorting.

That's a lot of work to run through pvm folks
They get ganked by other PKs who call in friends regardless to the odds. I for one do not like getting ganked.
