This just started happening to me a few days ago. Sometimes IRC loads up, but I get this message a lot now too. I have turned off my firewalls and it doesnt seem to help. I looked at the link he it posted for me, but I am not the server owner so it was just gibberish to me. Hopefully this is a quick fix! Any help would be appreciated! [17:35:52] Running lightIRC 1.3.2 Build 135. Project home: www.lightirc.com [17:36:12] Flash policy problem. If you are the server owner, please read http://redmine.lightirc.com/projects/lightirc/wiki/Flash_Policy_setup_instructions. You need to install a flash policy daemon at eu.chat4all.org (port 843). oh, and it reminds me I am not connected to the server, in the lower left of the window. Thanks ~Krake
What did you do to resolve this issue? I am currently having this problem and i've never had a problem before
Sometimes some web providers (most notably Verizon) block port 6667 which would give the error you describe. It's happened to me in the past, (I have Verizon). Try another IRC client. That should solve your problem; I'm using MIRC for example. If you are on a Mac, then LimeChat works rather well also.
Thanks for the LimChat suggestion, Pegbyter. I've never heard of it before. Downloaded it and will unzip and try.
http://uorforum.com/threads/troubleshooting-irc-webchat-connection-issues.11796/ This can help as well
That link didn't help me. Surely there is a fix that doesn't involve installing a different software package. Anyone?
Seems like this issue is a just a random buggy occurrence. I suggest to everyone to just reboot first.
i was having this problem alot a few weeks ago.. and it just started out of the blue when i had been using IRC for a while.. the only way to connect was to turn intrusion prevention off in my norton firewall, connect and turn it back on again.. i recently reinstalled adobe flash player, or maybe it was just an update not sure... but it seems to have fixed it... hasnt happened since.
