I think I am kind of in shock about how Jack just admitted to breaking into accounts of other people and stealing stuff.

But then again, I'm not really surprised that is something he's done...

The stealing was almost 20 years ago when UO was the wild west. Most of the players on UOR wouldn't be able to handle how things were back then. (for example, look how heavily modded the irc chan is)

When are people like you going to realize that a true open sandbox framed in the anonymity of the internet only leads to chaos? UO was heading that way. OSI decided to release Trammel. Bad idea. Chris has since tried to keep the old UO but modified to keep some sanity. God forbid we act civil towards each other in IRC. God forbid we can at least remove scamming. Don't you realize these small measures keeps players in the game? I think we can play just a little nice to be able to play at all.

I never said it was better or worse. It was just different. You presume to act like you know me and my personality, but in reality you're just an npc to me.


The main point is to pick a good login/pw combo or someone will possibly compromise your account.

Dude the reason most players play here is because it's as close to 'back then' as we will get, and that's when we enjoyed UO.

Official irc chans were always heavily moderated. Guild chans etc weren't.

We must live in a world where account hackers are not assumed to be Chinese simply because they call themselves Ying Chang and/or Ching Yang.

I have experience as a cyber political correctness officer operating in an amateur capacity and was alerted there may be an alleged account hacker here using names of eastern decent who was subsequently assumed to be Chinese.
I can offer no assistance with the hacked account investigation as this is outside the scope of my investigation.

However, after typing the name "Ching Yang" and "Ying Chang" in Google search as I have learned to do through experience, below is a summation of my investigation.

Sung Ching-yang (宋青陽 born 18 October 1992) is a Taiwanese inline speed skater and long track speed skater who specializes in the sprint distances. In international competitions he competes under the flag of Chinese Taipei.

Yingchang (Chinese: 應昌; pinyin: Yìngchāng) was one of the important cities in the Yuan dynasty. It was situated on Lake Taal in modern Inner Mongolia.[1]
The city of Yingchang was built by the Qongirat Mongols[2] in 1271,[3] the same year that Kublai Khan established the Yuan dynasty. The city was the administrative seat of the Mongol prince of Lu (鲁王). This square-walled city incorporated Chinese-like symmetry, wide axial streets from the gates led to an administrative compound in the center north area, emulating the Tang style.

My investigation has led me to believe there has been no violation of the prevailing political correctness of the times as the origins of the name Yingchang contains attributes which is considered "Chinese-like" and the name Ching Yang, a competition inline speed skater who chooses to identify with the Chinese Taipei even though Mr. Yang's biological birthplace is Taiwan.

Therefore, it is politically correct to assume the hacker who chose the names Ching Yang and Ying Chang did so in an effort to be presumed Chinese thus exonerating any alleged political correctness violations by the accuser.
