I spent a short amount of time on a shard that once you died, you were no longer able to see "mobiles" like in game chars, monsters etc. So you would die and all you could see is the static deco. Occasionally you would see a blood splatter if someone was killing a monster. You had to utilized spirit speak to make them "shown" to rez them. It was really a cool concept and totally got rid of ghosting all together. @Chris

so is mass town killing, but apparently we need to bubble wrap idiots that can't seem to log off a account or go stand in a house. Why not make it harder to ghost?

much simpler solution to the problem you proposed is simply disable recalling "into" a dungeon. All recalling to dungeons would have to be to the main first floor entrance. BUT, even then it would be a pain for non pk's to get to their desired location and lots of time wasted mazing through. dunno

You just asked a large group of pve'ers to play without risk. Lol the people who play here would NEVER allow something that risky.

No recalling/gating into or out of dungeons would be something that needs to be introduced at a server launch. Not after its been established.

I would love a dungeon counterpart to "Wind" though with dexxers in mind that aren't instances.

I just dont want this turning into a pvp only discussion. Lets not forget about different builds and skills becoming more useful. Slowing the influx of money and reduce items. Changes in how someone would own a house. Items being more useful like boats. Slowing the rate in which skills are gained not because it harder but because it would take longer, it would be nice having 100 mean something. Being more newbie friendly. I just dont want it turning into a pvp thing when i was i talking a way that could solve a bunch of problem.

I'm cool either way, I'd adapt if needed. Not a terrible idea but I'm also not in favor of it. Like one poster said, it would make going to your house too much of a hassle.

Yes, I will say that the shard I played that had no recall and only gate travel was a smaller map. Now to add to it, the "cannot travel in the heat of battle" would stop aggressors from traveling through a gate. Like we have here with public moongates, but for some reason is lifted for private gates.

I like the idea of disabling recall /gate into dungeons. I played a shard years ago with this and it was pretty cool. I set up a "trip wire" character partied with me near the entrance, so when that guy got killed, I got the "I was killed by Leet PK dood!!" line and it gave me enough time to leave or hide further into the dungeon. Khaldun is sort of like this already which is neat, because anyone going to pk you there needs to run through that dungeon and dodge all the spawn first, so it is usually not part of the main PK rounds.

This I could fully get behind.

I just can't see a fair and viable execution of a complete blanket ban on recall or gate in existing areas because of the massive depreciation of house values.

A volcanic island would make sense, they appear from under the sea and you could then create a dungeon or underground area with no recall or gate into.

You'd have to figure out a way to stop people from parking 50 boats all around it and blocking it off to other players, maybe a "no shore" docking rule so the second you exit the boat your locked to a spot on the ground till you dry dock the boat.

Most folk are pretty nice to people without mounts.
Cept' the people that kill mounts too.

    Depends.

The positives out weigh the negatives.
