My pumpedness went right out the window when my bro and I got to the event and it was full... so sad 1 star - Will try again today
I couldn't heal anyone last night Chris, and I know none of the VoP members I was trying to chuck heals are are factioneers hehe.
My brother and I joined in a party before the event started and we could heal each other. We did not attempt to heal anyone else I'm afraid so I don't know if you fixed it or not.
Seems weird I remember a bug like this during last Christmas where I could heal anyone that was non-guilded but anyone guilded in the event area I was given the "cannot perform beneficial acts" messages as if they were all factioneers.
Not a fan of the number limit. Walked away for maybe 30 seconds to take a piss and I can't participate now? Missed out on probably the only opportunity I had to participate tonight since my work schedule does not fit the events schedule. 12 hour swing shift with wedding weekend coming up. When everyone's lagged out, they're all in the same boat, when you curtail numbers to avoid the lag, it just excludes people. Pretty lame. Never even got to try one.
I def feel your pain dude, the first night, neither my brother or I got in. It was very disappointing
From what I heard a couple weeks ago, the limitation is from the client and over capacity can cause everyone's client to simply crash, not just lag. So could be a situation of 50 people go, or no one goes. (Also I think the event is kinda balanced around that limit)
If you have not attended an event yet we allow early signups if you contact me before the event starts, I think we have managed to get almost everyone through at least one (who wanted to play) so far. But yes the event fills up very quickly. Last nights bonus event wasn't full so sometimes patience is needed. As for the limit the event is completely designed around being a challenge for 50 players. Go over that number to much and it can lose a bit of the fun factor. Its quite a challenge to design bosses that can go toe to toe with a mass of players. This is also why we run 17-20 of these events, so if you don't make the first two days, there are 12-13 more days to try. The same thing happened last year where the first few events were packed and the rest averaged out to 45 players or so.
Then the event needs to be looked at. Excluding people from participating is a very bad practice for shard-wide events like that. If the event can't handle the numbers, then something different should take its place. *thumbs down* on the current implementation
The healing issue is just a side effect of using the trammel map for events like this. There are still a few trammel checks buried in the code we have yet to remove. Party'ing up with your friends before the event does seem to be a temporary solution. This also only seems to affect bandages as well.
Patience isn't the issue. I just don't have much free time and I can't plan on "maybe he'll decide to run another one and maybe he won't". As far as the event design, I know you put a lot of time into it and its pretty neat. That having been said, I don't agree with the implementation being such that you limit the players and leave some out in the cold...especially when this is something that only happens at certain times of the year. CTF's and such happen year round, but if you miss these and are cursed with a busy stretch of work when these events are going on, its just SOL for the player. No one likes being turned back at the door. As far as my personal Schedule, I have 14 days off AFTER the events, lol. Kind of a kick in the #$%^ there, heh. But yeah, Bosses and such should scale automatically based on number of players entered. Perhaps put that on the to-do list instead of excluding willing participants. EDIT: Sorry if i'm too blunt, I just stayed up late when I had to be up at 4:30am just to have a chance of making that one event that I thought i'd have time for and it was rather frustrating to get told I couldn't.
Telamon bends over backwards running extra events and allowing early signups and if you still can't deal with that you've got the overworld event, too. If you don't have time for any of it that's really too bad but it's not a problem with the event.
I will have to respectfully disagree with you. There are numerous options to address the number limit issue. If you don't understand the options, then that is one thing, but don't make a blanket statement that is simply untrue. Regardless, I'm routinely proposing ideas, PM'ing Telamon about ideas, and telling him about things I like and dislike. Just because I dislike a certain aspect of the way something is implemented and voice my opinion on it, does not mean i'm a big bad jerk. If you know how to extensively code and run a RunUO server, feel free to PM me sometime and i'll explain to you why you don't know what you are talking about in this instance. In the end, i'm just trying to help make things better and if I just stand by silently, i'm not really helping anything. Thanks, -L/S
