What did I say that suggests I don't know what I'm talking about? Extra events have been run for those that have missed out. Early signups have been allowed to accommodate players. The overworld is constantly running for whenever you do get time. It is too bad you don't have time. And you've pointed it out to all of us in case we hadn't already noticed how bad it is. I also didn't suggest anything negative about you or your actions and, in fact, offered my sympathy so I don't know why you'd cast your aspersions of ignorance my way. Must be your condescending attitude and needless whining that make you the "big bad jerk."
Lightshade if you only have one hour window to play over the course of weeks that's asking quite a bit for Telamon to meet your satisfaction. However that said - if you would just PM him politely I imagine he will find some way to accommodate you. In the first event not everyone could get in. So Telamon pulled everyone that couldn't get in aside and ran another one following it and put them in first. Last night he did a third event for the day after the evening one. It's clear to me he's hoping to allow everyone to participate. If you can stop being mad about the principle of how you were inconvenienced last night, and just send him a message in IRC, maybe he can find a time you're around and help you get in.
Mes, i'm just trying to get things tweaked in the future so this is never an issue at all. Let's face it, Telamon knows he's spending a LOT of time trying to get those stragglers into the events. I am fully aware of his efforts and commend him on that, but its time that him and I would both prefer that he didn't have to spend. If there's a way to automate things, going forward, that would alleviate these issues, then I think that it should be explored. I am just trying to make things better in the future. I know that most people construe anything that isn't "you're awesome" as an attack, but it simply isn't so and is a waste of everyone's time. If I didn't care about improving things, i'd just sit around and say good job and offer no input on how things may or may not be improved.
Lightshade, you're not being blunt, you're being a dick. Seriously. If you're busy IRL, so it goes. If you have a wedding one weekend, so it goes. There is literally no day in the next two weeks that doesn't have an event, and it seems like pretty much every 2-hour time slot is covered too. And as someone else mentioned, there is an overworld event 24/7. If you want to act like "pretty lame" and "thumbs down" are really just your own special way of wanting to share some super leet RunUO skills, you're full of it. Write up a post or something with your ideas, rather than spending a handful of posts just whining about work and weddings and un-optimized events that were made by people volunteering their time for the joy of hundreds of others.
I would like to see a larger scale version of the event at some point that takes more time, players and resources to complete. Nothing longer than a couple hours (standard movie time) though, so it's still somewhat easy to squeeze into a busy life.
Dalavar SillyMage: I have already said that I had moved passed my schedule not cooperating and was looking to just improve things in general. I even specifically said I commend Telamon. Unbeknownst to you, I was talking with Telamon in PM's about various suggestions and stuff in the pipeline less than an hour before I started being a "dick" as you so eloquently put it. Before you posted this, I had already wrote up suggestions in the Development Forum and started a thread on ways to improve things. The fact that I am able to post in that forum shows most people with a middling intelligence level that I do care about the shard. Just because i'm always trying to make things better on this shard and in all things in life, does not make me a "dick", Dalavar. Could my delivery be worked on in many cases? Sure. At the end of the day, though, my intentions are in the right place. Little can be said of your intentions towards me, though. So, perhaps someone else is full of it and acting like that which he is accusing others for acting like?
Great post Gideon...I agree completely. Last year when I attended this event I was almost immediately turned off because I felt like the winners were the few that got silver and I didn't have the looting skills to compete. So I just stopped caring about it. I kind of wouldn't mind if there were no silver weapons at all. I've been successful this year, won 3/3 that I attended. Two because friends found silver and gave them to me. The third I just had a regular weapon and played smart/got lucky. I definitely don't like that feeling when you see people have silver around the brit bank stage and know you aren't going to be very competitive from there on out. But it's all in all a great event and even if I do horribly from here on out I'll just gladly take my bag and try to have a good time.
I'd like to be spread out into 4 teams and you have different routes to the heart of the city, currently there are way too many people to start in one spot. Hell, maybe even a pvp version.
I like these thoughts, and I'm glad we're presenting them as such. I think overall everyone enjoys this premise of this. I know it satisfies me solely based on participation, but I don't really try to get the 'high end' stuff. Personally, as a group event, I think there should be a great reward given to all participants if all bosses are vanquished and you win the night. As it is right now, I think this can quickly switch from a 'group' event to an 'MVP' event. Should the MVP get a chance for something good? yeah, but in this the mvp's are definitely climbing to the top using their comrades' backs as rungs in the ladder The entire group's final bounty should be scaled first based on how many bosses are vanquished, second how many monsters are vanquished, and then how quickly it is done (under 15 mins, under 20 mins, under 30 mins). Also, if you slay 200 normal monsters, 300 normal monsters, or 400 normal monsters total, the group would get rewarded with something special (not all rewards have to be items, but prestige as well). I think this would encourage folks to 'share' silvers, spells, and reagents more abundantly during the event. Hopefully some of these ideas above can be implemented in next year's event.
heres my 2 cents. i think as you defeat bosses it should kill the respawn of an area. so like once the royal mummy goes down from the inn to about the pub over there should no longer spawn zombies. then once the vampires go down the bank area stops spawning NEW mobs. i think it would help keep everyone together and pushing for the next area. Has anyone killed the Black Knight yet?
