I HATE tater-tots
cliff notes for those new to the thread
bart mcpoyle was served a shit sandwich to eat instead of handing them out for once
no one cares except Mcpoyle and his boyfriends, so nothing to see here
I don't recall Vlar ever talking shit until after his events were disrupted. Vlar was also told that Science Warlord was Liberation. That may not be an 'honest' mistake but I can't really lay it on him (especially in light of this involving a group that uses identical names to disguise themselves.) For the record, Vlar also had a blast that night.
I was the one banning people. Before the assassination I was instructed not to ban Dank Nuggets even though it was suspected that they were up to no good. After the fighting started Vlar told me multiple times not to ban Punt or Xegugg. Why? I guess because he likes them and and considers them friends (yep, he takes things personally.) As far as I know Xeg wasn't banned but Punt was because he was a continuing distraction. In the aftermath I was instructed to clear the ban list of everyone but Liberation (?!?). It wasn't cleared by me because I have no idea who any of you are.
The honest story is that organizers allowed the event to be disrupted by following Stormhold's very gracious policy and not acting on a hunch that, in the end, proved correct. That's too bad considering the exact scenario. Bart was killed during sudden death in an match where going to sudden death appeared to be his opponents strategy. . . Which is fine but, quite frankly, would have been a waste of everyone's time had we rerun it. Bart voluntarily conceded to save everyone the hassle of a tedious rematch.
The entire shard is quite welcome to come fight in the ring or outside during these events. A good, old fashioned assassination is also fine by me but if it happens during a match it doesn't just hurt your enemy. This particular attack was made just before the target was going to die anyway. It didn't hurt Bart it only damaged the integrity of the event. (This also seems a poor strategy as it gave your hated enemy a chance to look like a stand-up classy guy.)
For those of you that got banned please check back frequently. Your bans will almost certainly be lifted at some time.
Thanks to KoS, the Radical Larry's, and VoP members who entertained the malcontents. I'd also like to apologize to Bruce and Hijinx for personal and pet injuries sustained in the confusion.
I'd also like to let it be known, that I personally don't harbor any ill will towards Vlar for what has transpired. I fully expected to be banned from the event and possibly future events. I just wanted to have some fun as well as spice up what was an otherwise boring event, imo. By taking a cheap shot at Bart. It worked fantastically.
I just still can't believe that Telamon has threatened account bans over this nonsense if it continues to happen.
True story. I was in a very small "Chinese" buffet once in the late 90's. I came across a tin of a very familiar item, "tater-tots".
I found it very odd that the surrounding items were standard Asian buffet affair then all the sudden, western junk food sitting proud. On a whim I asked one of the attendants, "What are these?"
My hunch paid off and I was rewarded.
"Ah, those are dice-ed rice-ed poh-tay-toh... you like... verrrrry exoctic"
I filled my plate while struggling very, very hard to not crack up out loud in front of the attendant.
Careful Blackeye the group you are talking about has threatened various groups on this shard with reprisal and will be specifically targeted by being even remotely supportive or friendly to SL/TT because this group is threatened by SL/TT since they want supreme control over this shard to do as they please without any interference or opposition and unfortunately since they have made friends with the shard owner they do have the power on their side. Many people on this shard have bought into this group's side because they appear to be quite vocal over various things. On the flip side if SL/TT do the same thing this group does (which happens) then they are targeted mainly through posts in IRC or Forums which the neutral masses hear and then see the GM back them up with negative comments and such. This I would say probably sends possibly a confusing message and obviously will coerce their thoughts instead of making up their own minds. Unfortunately for many of us in SL/TT we do not always voice our thoughts in these areas when normal Felucca situations happen because this is supposed to be Felucca after all. Friend's of Telamon came to this shard after they got to know him when Telamon was playing Second Age, some of his friends might still remain part of this group. So this is not something that will go away until SL/TT leave the shard or until another group who threatens this group and their control of this shard. This is a relatively simple situation being made into a complex one.
I don't care that @Vlar was told that Science Warlord was me. I do care that he decided that some random fool telling him so was proof positive enough to drag my name through the mud when I have actively discouraged our group from disrupting player run events.
I have also heard enough of you apparently omniscient players who believe that we use same names to avoid having to take individual blame for anything. I can hardly blame some for thinking this initially, as Chris will volunteer that narrative to anyone who will listen to him. We do it to avoid targeting in group fights. This has been made clear many, many times and there is no reason to be restating the falsehood unless you're pushing an agenda.
Right, I'd like to point out that this is how I feel as well.
I think that the rational thing for Vlar to do is to cater to his supporters and not worry about the people that he's already alienated. I think it's perfectly fine for him to ban people from the event if they've been causing problems.
The reason I'm here is because I object to staff intervention and to fight against the narrative that TT/SL are terrible guys that always cause trouble. As I said in my first post, there are always two sides to every story.
Thank you for discouraging members of your group from disrupting events.
I don't claim to be omniscient. As I said before, I have no idea who any of your alts are. I understand the strategy behind your identical names. As a form of faction combat camouflage I'm sure it's very effective but it is a disguise none-the-less. It's caused myself and others confusion as to how to treat those that choose to use the tactic. So I don't believe I've stated any falsehood at all, much less "restated," as I don't recall ever commenting on the subject before (or ever involving myself in general drama involving your guild or those of your enemies.)
As for 'my' agenda: I would simply like to be able treat everyone fairly. I would like to be able to welcome you, your guild, any associated groups and any enemies you may have to partake in shard wide events without feeling like I'm doing one group a disservice by not persecuting another group. I also understand why that might bother people or why some might not understand why I'd like the opportunity to be as inclusive as possible to everyone interested in attending events like this.
Edit: What Pax says below says it better than I care to.
Couldn't have said it better myself.
I really wish someone would do a powerpoint presentation or some chart to explain all the "who hates who, who's allied with who" so we can keep up, this stuff is confusing for the most part! Surely some enterprising individual can map it out for us for quick reference lol Does all of this stem directly from factions? I don't think i've ever been to a shard where factions hadn't devolved into a squabbling mess
From what I know it's potatoes vs beets with Tater tots somewhere in the middle. But this is just my understanding
It'd be a small chart, SL on one side and the rest of server on the other. I am surprised we've been threatened with bans so much lately, this is like the 4th or 5th time this year already. I don't see the whole "SL are dicks to everyone" but, I don't think I've pk'd someone who wasn't an established enemy since halloween, and even then we gave out gift bags and res'd and whatnot [Cuz we're such monsters]. I personally haven't even been playing much, and when I do I'm usually just bashing monsters or doing bods. I don't think any of us have anything against the server, in fact I'm sure we'd all like to see I thrive, but I don't think that sentiment fits the agenda of those who'd like to convince the general populous otherwise so you don't hear it much.
But what about the tater tots Kane?!
I love tater tots, with ranch on the side!
you can't put ranch on tatertots kane that's five Sleuth-demerits™
it's pretty tough to talk about because staff has forbidden us to bring up some parts of server history publicly. But it does have much to do with rival pvp groups.
Separate names with a comma.
