It would follow normal provo rules: it stayed aggroed unto the provoed mobile until aggro is broken, which can be done by offscreening/invis/provoing unto something else/etc.
Which basically means it'd be stupidly easy for any PKer worth their salt to get away from. Just like kiting pets. Which means the whole "It would make tamers too powerful." and "It would make it too easy for bards to get away." arguments are invalid.
Timing is everything and the intent is to bring a FUN element back to the game that absolutely belongs. It's been 4 years too long without it.
Bear the lutes! More sandbox please. No, I don't consider the mask of orcish kin a real issue when they can just code it to not break unless they INITIATE an attack on an orc. Get a firm grip on your lap harp!
I'm fairly certain I've seen the code already done, on RunUO forums. This is old hat and has been remedied long before this shard launched.
I get up at 6am-ish, to hit the gym by 6:30 so I can be home by 7:30ish and ready up to head to work, when I work in the office. I'll typically spend a few minutes before the gym checking emails for anything urgent and occasionally check FB and UOR forums before heading in (while I'm having a light breakfast). Yesterday though, despite the same morning routine, I worked from home and was back and forth to the keys from pretty much 6am through 10pm. Though I still managed to BBQ and go pick up a new couch for the living room. lol
I think provo onto players is great because it would be the best way to fight tamers. And no, there is no such thing as too loyal. All the bard needs to do is make the dragon think it hasn't eaten in a week. Ask Ramsay Bolton.
I actually like the idea of a pvp bard...definitely gives pvp more flavor, and would possibly interest more people in pvp.
I would even go as far as to say provoke players onto other players, but I realize that's kinda pushing it a bit.
After briefly reading through this thread I am for provoking onto players. I agree the mask of orcish kin thing needs to be resolved first though. One thing I see that is a precedent is tamers can "all kill" on players right? So why not bards basically have a temp "kill" command through provo. Sure it might be provoking a non animal hostile on someone but whats the difference really. Maybe make a stat loss to creatures that are provo'd onto peeps, just like the stat loss a pet takes after taming them.
This holiday event exacerbated the need for provo onto players. Many times, had you been able to provo spawn unto yourself you would have been able to “lure” it to a better place to kill it. You should at least be able to keep the creature aggroed onto yourself, and not onto everything that crossed its path.
sounds like we could use a "taunt" for sure. Provo would be a good taunt without adding more mechanics.
