Guys I am running a bit late today. I will have to push this back 30 minutes to setup. It will start a 7:30pm EST Sunday, July 23, 7pm EST Gzus and Cullinarn have graciously furnished this event with purple potions and bottles. Thanks a lot! Read the rules carefully. There is a 25k entry fee. (Spectators are free) Random number generator will divide ALL participants into one of two teams. The teams must be even. Example: if we have 17 players, the last to arrive cannot join. Players will enter their side of the arena. They may not cross the center line. When a wall of stone drops, signifying the start of a match, teams will begin throwing potions across at the opposing team until all members of one team is dead, or the time runs out. If the time runs out, the team with the most members alive wins the match. Only the following spells will be allowed: Wall of Stone Energy Field Polymorph Dispell Field Reveal Incognito Nightsight (you're welcome jupiter) Invisibility There is no healing during this event. No bandages, no wands, no (non-purple) potions. You can move, throw (purple) potions, throw fire bombs, cast the above spells, hide, stealth, and detect. You will be detected if you hide during a match at 10 second intervals. After the match, the losing team is out of the game. The winning team will then be divided randomly into two halves and compete again. This will repeat until we are down to 2v2. Once only 4 players remain, the secret final round will occur. There will be no explanation of the final round until just before it begins. The losing players are encouraged to stick around for the final match. There will be a first, second, and third place winner. I will ask staff to provide trophies but I cannot make any promises. There is a million GP in prizes to be awarded, furnished by the cA guild, and various gracious donors. If you wish to donate, we can put your gold to good use throwing unorthodox, fun events, just contact any cA member. You must only bring regs if you intend to cast spells. Nothing else is required, but if you want to bring a chair, fireworks wand, or any other non-offensive item, to use during the match, feel free. There is no murder-count-giving during this event, I will take steps to ensure that it is impossible anyway. Audience members are NOT permitted to cast any spells or shoot any weapons or interfere with the game in any way. Fireworks wands, moving around, taunting the players, or whatever else you want to do is fine. If an audience members casts a spell, they will be banned, NO EXCEPTIONS.
These are house-never-wins events. All the entry fee is paid out, as well as the money that we put up personally. If there's many event-provided consumables, that might be paid for by the funds as well, for example in this one I am using some of the gold to buy all the required ash at-cost to furnish pots. The reason for the 25k entry fee is that I find it brings only people committed to the actual event. Let's say there is no fee, everyone would join a mongbat in the mongbattle even if they just heard about it and did no training. They have no hope to win, and it just drags out the event longer. In some cases, it will deter griefers, or staging the opposite team (but I have that super covered here, so pvpers hoping to work as a team and sabotage the other team if the random selection ends up that way, you're in for a surprise) The only exception is, for some events I also want to participate. I want to train a mongbat, or whatever, and in those instances I always give first place the chance to walk away with the money, or face me and double it (when it would be fair anyway). If they lose that money, it goes right back into the next event.
It's not like one of those "mystery box lotto" vendors. I don't have anything to gain here other than the enjoyment of providing events that aren't entirely for vets or require leet pvp teams to 321 drop on uncoordinated players.
We used to play this back in my days in the Undead guild some, only no spells allowed and just one bandage each. It was crazy fun. I guess this is the mage version and adds some interesting strategy. I'm definitely going to try and make this one!
Haha, ya I played it in UDL on Siege. I would recommend you bring a mage and at least dispell field regs, maybe some red pots if you want. But even a non-mage could do well, it wont be just 2 areas, expect some obstacles to use to your advantage.
I know it is pretty hard to make gold on this shard but I have played here a long time and have over 100k in my bank so I would like to offer to pay for your entry fee @One I hope this means you'll be able to attend, as this sounds like a great event. Fun for the whole family.
Question: can we use magic invis jewelry for this event? Also, if time permits or for sudden death can the house cast EV's on both sides? I will definitely try to attend this! Brilliant idea!
If you can find magic jewelry/clothing, go for it. There will be no sudden death. When the time is up, remaining player count determins the winner, if they are equal, they can have another match, etc.. ..never attends a cA event, even the one I made in his honor!
One suggestion you could do to monitor what spells are cast is make sure participants have no regs but maybe 1 of each spell scroll you allow, so they have to choose wisely when to use them. This will be an interesting event!
Yeah, that's something to consider for the future if what I allow here turns out to be too many spells. I don't think there's a reason to do it in order to limit the spells though, I will simply remove anyone who doesn't comply, nothing will slip by. They do so little damage it honestly wouldn't make any difference or sense. If you want to use them, feel free. I will add it to the rules, but only purple pots will be provided by the event staff.
I don't think I can attend the event, but I would like to donate a few kegs of purple goo for the fun idea. @snap dragon hit me up on IRC and we can set up a meet.
