PVP Ranger template - seeking insight

    Well met! I'm creating a new PVP toon and am looking at making an archer / tank mage. I'm aware archery is less than ideal as far as kill potential, however I think it would be fun to play. Anyhow I've got two templates currently I'm thinking about, one more archer-centric and one more mage-centric:

    Archer-Centric
    Tactics - 100
    Anatomy - 100
    Healing - 80
    Archery - 100
    Magery - 90.1
    Resist - 100
    Eval - 80
    Meditation - 49.9

    Mage-Centric
    Tactics - 80
    Anatomy - 80
    Healing - 80
    Archery - 90
    Magery - 90.1
    Resist - 100
    Eval - 100
    Meditation - 79.9

    With both builds the magery should cover max success rate on lvl 6 spells, and I'd like to incorporate healing since it's just so darn good. I am open to possibly dropping healing to go straight 7x style but figured would seek some input from the community as I've never tried 8x. I'd probably go 90s/45d/90i or something close to it with either build.

    Constructive criticism and considerations much appreciated!

    In my very humble (and likely wrong) opinion, the simple fact of having unfinished skills gimps a template.

    Ultimately a gimped build leads to frustration. Frustration leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.[/Yoda voice]

    Heal is nice and all, but takes waaaaaaaaaaaay too long with 100 Dex. With 45 Dex you’ll be long dead before it sticks.

    The reason I don’t PvP anymore is the speed of the action. I just can’t keep up. Healing was fine in 1998, but it is way too slow for the speed of PvP in 2018.

    There are two pvp builds. if you want to play some form of tank mage you will do just fine, just not as well.

    1.
    Mage Stun Punch Healer:
    Magery
    Med
    Eval
    Resist
    Wrestling
    Anatomy
    Healing

    2.
    Mage Stun Punch Scribe:
    Magery
    Med
    Eval
    Resist
    Wrestling
    Anatomy
    Inscription

    3.
    Basic Tank Mage:
    Magery
    Med
    Eval
    Resist
    Anatomy
    Tactics
    Weapon Skill(I.E. Archery)

    Remember with 100 eval and 100 anat ppl will have a 50% chance to hit you. Just as if you had 100 wrestling (defensive wrestling).

    @Pirul thank you for the insight, hadn't thought about the bandage timers.

    @POTHEAD familiar with those builds, was interested in whipping up something different. Looks like meta builds are meta for more than one reason :/

    Del, I logged in to the test center to try out archery with a similar template as you got above a few weeks back. The damage done with a crossbow was decent but it was so slow. A halberd is about twice as fast.

    Test is not patched to live. Archery did get a boost recently and afaik you can't test the changes on test.
