I think real estate should have it's own forum section, this way real estate threads won't get lost in the crowd of all other trading threads. Just my opinion?
Would it not be possible to add a veteran and trusted forum member as admin of it and limit their powers to moving threads? Even if it's a sub thread within the trade forum? I'm sure someone would volunteer to do it.
Seriously, I think having a housing (or any other specialty) sub-forum might be a convenience. HOWEVER, I would suggest that all listings also appear in the main Trade Forum. Sort of like how it is in a certain other forum for a certain other shard.
It works, It's great because it keeps the trading post clear from posts about Houses, and the Real Estate forum usually isn't super active so people have a good chance to see on whats being put up. Unlike the trading forum it's way too busy.
Yea... staff wouldn't even respond to my requests to pin THE HOUSING THREAD http://uorforum.com/threads/the-housing-thread.24354/ even though there was tons of support not only for the thread, but the pinning of the thread. I'm sure if some goody-two-shoe, yes-man, like Landar proposed it, it would happen within minutes... kinda like his Auction Basics thread. That thing was inta-pinned and its just devolved into a trash talk thread.
I don't believe a separate thread is the answer. I think they start out great, but the attention of them starts declining. Also I wouldn't want too many more pinned threads in the trade forum. When I click on the that page, I want to start looking at whats going on in the trades right away, not have to scroll down to finally get to them. 1st world problems, I know. I think thread icons are helpful especially for selling or buying homes. I would suggest not having BUY or Sell placed right over the icon tho and instead have 3 options of BUY, SELL, or TRADE right at the beginning of the thread title and leads into the description and leaving the icon clearer to see to act as a filter while scrolling down. But that's also more contingent on people utilizing it more which I wish people would.
