This guide will cover the additional content added to the treasure hunting class in patch 63/64. This system is something the staff here have envisioned for years as an improvement over the existing system that OSI expanded on. Rather than simply adding harder monsters and more gold to be found in the chests we have completely re-designed how a level 7 treasure map will work. Starting in Patch 63 players have a chance to find a level 7 map in any level 1-6 treasure chest. There are four types of maps each designed after a core type of monsters found in the world. Each map will provide players with a new experience unique to UO Renaissance requiring teamwork, custom character development and multiple attempts to master. In Patch 64 the maps will become active allowing players to dig them up like any other treasure map. However rather than a chest you will dig open an entrance into a unique dungeon. Players will be presented with a choice of leaving the dungeon entrance open, allowing them to call in help or retreat for more supplies. Or they can close the dungeon entrance using the cave in lever and go it with only the supplies and allies that they have brought with them. Closing the dungeons will also provide the players with an opportunity to gain fame and fortune by having their attempt placed on the leaderboard for that dungeon and if they manage to complete the dungeon by themselves each additional rewards and fame. For more information on this new system check any of the areas below using the table of contents. Guide Table of Contents 1. Treasure Hunting Resources 2. Finding Level 7 Maps. 3. The Dragons Den Question & Answer Q. How do I use a level 7 treasure map? A. Just dig it up like any other map. See section 3 for more information. Q. What do the colors of the maps mean? A. This indicates which dungeon the map goes to. See section 7-10 for more information. Q. Once I dig up a map can anyone enter the dungeon? A. Yes! Unless you choose to cave in the entrance anyone can enter the dungeon and the dungeon is under normal felucca world rules. See section 4 for more information. Q. What happens if I dig up a dungeon entrance and no one enters the dungeon within 2 minutes? A. The dungeon will close and reset and your map will be marked as completed. So make sure you are prepared to enter the dungeon quickly once you dig it up. Just one player inside will place the dungeon in an active state. Q. What if everyone dies during a dungeon run? A. Each dungeon has one or more places to resurrect. These are normally near each levels entrance. Dungeons that have 2 levels (Elemental, Abyss, Reptile) have 2 shrines. Q. What if I need more supplies during a level 7 dungeon? A. It would be best to have an alternate character bring in more supplies rather than leaving and attempting to return. This can be risky if no one is left in the dungeon and it resets. If you have not caved in the entrance anyone can go to the treasure map spot and enter the dungeon. If you caved in the entrance you have to make due with what you brought. Q. Do monsters respawn in these dungeons? A. Other than triggered spawns nothing will respawn in these dungeons. Q. What happens if I leave the dungeon and attempt to return later? A. If you exit the dungeon and there are no players left in the dungeon area the dungeon will close and reset. (So make sure at least 1 player stays inside, if others leave for more supplies) Q. What if I leave the dungeon and forget a corpse or pet? A. Simply wait at the dungeon entrance for a few minutes. When the dungeon resets all corpses and pets will be ejected to that location. Q. How do I qualify for an ironman trophy? A. You must enter the dungeon. And while having two or less follower slots use the lever inside the dungeon to close the dungeon within 90 seconds. . This will activate the ironman scoring process. From there proceed as normal keeping an eye on the event clock to make sure you do not run out of time. Note: If you have any summoned creatures, ethereals, etc they can be counted against your ironman tallies. Make sure to dismount or dispell them before using the lever.
David Hasselhoff's Guide to Treasure Hunting by Basoosh UO Guide Article on Treasure Maps Treasure Hunters of Britannia - Offline Treasure Map Utility Keza's Video Guides In order to find level 7 treasure maps players will have to break out their treasure hunter and complete some of the maps that they have inevitably stashed around their house. Depending on the difficulty of the map you complete you will have a chance to find a level 7 treasure map. The chances in which to find a map are listed below. Level 1 - 1 in 250 Level 2 - 1 in 150 Level 3 - 1 in 75 Level 4 - 1 in 40 Level 5 - 1 in 25 Level 6 - 1 in 10 Players will need to search the chest thoroughly as the maps can spawn anywhere in the chest, even under other items. Note: The drop rates for level 7 treasure maps are subject to change based on the logged data. However any change will be minimal and simply used to adjust for player tendencies. Once you find a level 7 treasure map you will notice that is has a unique color. This color signifies the type of dungeon the map is linked to. Each map will also have a unique description when clicked.
Preparing to do a level 7 map will be a new experience so players need to be aware of the differences before they set out. Level 7 maps function much like level 6 maps. You will still need a cartographer to decode the map and a treasure hunter to dig it up. However from that point on things change. Once you have dug open the entrance to the dungeon anyone can continue on with the quest. Simply hand the map to your adventurer and allow him and his friends to enter the dungeon. From this point forward a cartographer or lock picker will not be needed. Each of the level 7 dungeons will pose players with a unique set of challenges and there will need to be a variety of experimentation by players to determine what the most effective templates are. For the Spider Caves players will need to be prepared to deal with constant poisoning. For the Elemental Caves players will need to be heavily armored to survive. For the Abyss Dungeon players will need to be prepared to survive magical attacks. For the Dragons Den players will need to be prepared to deal with breath attacks. Each of these dungeons are being tested extensively against two players playing classical dexer/bard combinations. Players are welcome to bring their pets, or a few animal tamers to complete the dungeon but they will find that pets are less effective and more at risk from the monsters that inhabit these dungeons. Each dungeon will be assigned a level of difficulty once the player testing is complete. From initial testing it looks like we should have a nice range of difficulty from easy to very hard providing a nice challenge for players. Make 100% sure you read up on the dungeon you are about to enter before you use your map. Going in unprepared will result in a wasted map and a trip to the exit as a ghost. As I will cover in the next section if you decide to cave-in the dungeon you will want to make sure you bring plenty of supplies to complete the dungeon. There are no second tries if you fail on your first attempt. Once you have decoded the map and assembled your party proceed to the location of the treasure map and dig it up. Unlike level 1-6 maps no monsters will spawn at the entrance allowing you to dig with relative safety. Once you have opened the dungeon entrance you will have 60-120 minutes to complete the dungeon based on which map you have. You can check this by looking for colored clocks placed around the dungeon and near the entrance. While the cave is open any player can use the entrance and the dungeon is covered by normal felucca rules. However you will not be able to gate or recall in/out of the dungeons and will have to use one of the provided exits. Note: Monsters will not respawn in the dungeons once defeated allowing players to clear a path to escape or take a break should it be needed. Once you enter the dungeon you will immediately notice that you can enter and exit the dungeon as needed using the stairs. You will also notice a strange lever as shown below near the dungeon entrance. These levers are only usable by the player currently holding the treasure map that was dug up. So make sure you transfer the map to the player in charge of running the dungeon and who will be responsible for the scoring run or ironman attempt. Should you decide to leave the dungeon entrance open the following situations are applicable. You can come and go as needed anytime during the period the dungeon is opened. However you must exit the dungeon to recall/gate. You may direct friends/guildmates to the treasure location to join you at any time. Players may stumble across your map location and invade the dungeon. Murderers, Thieves and other unsavory types will have no restrictions placed on them when inside the dungeon other than the recall/gate limitations. Should you decide to cave in the dungeon the following situations are applicable. The entrance to the dungeon will be closed, and one way exit gates will appear throughout the dungeon. You still cannot recall or gate in/out of the dungeon. No more players will be able to enter the dungeon once you cave it in. So make 100% sure you didn't forget anyone. The moment in which you use the lever to close the dungeon your raiding party will be evaluated. This information will be used to score your attempt at the dungeon. This will also initiate an Ironman attempt at the dungeon if your are attempting to complete it by yourself. Once you decide to cave in the dungeon simply double click the strange level while holding the linked treasure map. Note: This cannot be undone. Clicking the lever again will do nothing. In order for your dungeon run to be properly scored you must do the following. Dig up the map like normal Give the map to the player who will be running the scoring attempt Note: This does not have to be your cartographer Make sure the dungeon only contains the players which will participate in the rune. Use the lever inside the dungeon entrance within 90 seconds of opening the dungeon. Additionally to qualify for an ironman attempt you will need to ensure the following. Complete all of the above steps. Have only 1 player in the dungeon area at the time you use the lever. Have 2 or less followers at the time you use the lever. Note: The system is designed to ignore pets you might have left outside the event area, but its still smart to make sure everything is stabled. Make 100% sure this is done within 90 seconds of opening the dungeon. If you have completed these steps successfully you will see a message like the following image. Note: If you want to make an ironman attempt at the dungeon you are welcome to request a staff monitor to verify that everything goes smoothly. It is a good idea to contact a staff member ahead of time to make sure they are available. During your attempt at the dungeon you can monitor your progress by double clicking the treasure map to see a variety of useful information. This is covered in more detail in section 6 of this guide. However in the following picture you can see how the ironman status is displayed. During the event you must complete the following to qualify for the ironman award. Close the dungeon using the lever within 90 seconds. Spawn & Defeat the 2-3 mini bosses found in the level. Defeat the Boss of the level. Loot any platinum, gold or rare items from the dungeon chests (2) Exit the dungeon before the time limit expires Again you can double click your map at anytime to see your progress towards these goals. Note: Once you begin an closed dungeon attempt you map is blessed for the duration of the dungeon crawl. Should you complete all of these steps and exit the dungeon within 2-3 minutes when the dungeon cycles you will be rewarded with an ironman trophy. Should you complete all 4 events with the same character the staff will commemorate your accomplishment with a notation on the website news feed along with a special prize to be disclosed later.
In order to progress through the dungeon players will need to be on the lookout for special creatures that are tougher than the average monsters. They can be placed at certain points or they can spawn when certain conditions have been met. This will be up to the players to determine. Defeating these creatures will reward the player with either a door key or a chest key. Hidden in the dungeons players will be able to find a few chests in which the keys will function on as shown above. However keep in mind dungeon chests are usually trapped. Note: I mention this because in almost every test run of the new dungeons someone blew themselves up. Should players find a door key it will allow progression deeper into the dungeon once the player finds the related door. Multiple door keys will drop during the instance should players manage to lose one. But it is best to make sure they are not lost or you could fail to complete the dungeon. In order to successfully complete the dungeon the players must defeat the dungeons end boss and loot any rare items, gold and platinum from the dungeons loot chests. This is critical to in order for your attempt at the dungeon to be considered complete. Essentially so if you are attempting to earn an ironman award. Once you have completed these tasks you can exit the dungeon. You will be taken back to the dungeon entrance and can recall/gate away. If you have lost a pet or a corpse in the dungeon it will be teleported to the exit as well after a short wait. You will be hidden upon leaving the dungeon to provide a bit of additional safety. Once inside the dungeon you can double click your treasure map for additional information about your progress. On page one you can see either the player who opened the dungeon, or the player who currently has the map and has used the entrance lever. If you have caved in the entrance you will see information about your party, pets and follower slots. The amount of time you have spent in the dungeon is also listed. On page two you can see a summary of the monsters you have deafeated so far in your attempt. On page three we have a detailed summary of your progress towards and ironman accomplishment. Items yet to be looted, bosses yet to be killed are listed. If you closed the entrance of the dungeon within 90 seconds of opening it your run at the dungeon can be considered Ironman Qualified. If you used only 1 player and 2 or less follower slots all three conditions will be true. Once you leave the dungeon it takes 1-5 minutes for the ironman award to process and be awarded to you. It is recommended that you stay online during this period. If you lost a pet or a corpse in the dungeon it will be ejected to the entrance where you dug open the cave in the same timeframe. During the dungeon crawl players can find a variety of rare items, some unique to these events not to be see anywhere else. Some of the items that can be found are the following Opposition Slayers Opposition Super Slayers 4-10 Platinum Coins 2 Level 5 Grade Treasure Chests 1 Rare Colored/Named Metal Treasure Chest (Shown below) Possibility of a very rare monthly rare spawn (or two). Possibility of a variety of rare monster loot drops. Note: Be careful when leaving the dungeon! While you may have caved in the dungeon the dungeon exit is part of the felucca world and subject to normal rules. If you have caved in the dungeon entrance when using an exit gate you will be hidden upon exit. If you have not caved in the dungeon the entrance will function like any other cave/dungeon entrance. (You can however precast recall/gate in this situation). If you want to be extra safe, send out a scout to make sure everything is clear.

Each dungeon has 1-2 places to resurrect. However the players will need to be careful to clear the spawn around them (for later spots) and not drag the spawn there as well.
Since we have a scoring system in place the monsters do not respawn. This will allow us to judge player runs equally. And allow you a safe escape or run to the shrine.
Well, you may want to look into that, because stuff was definitely still re-spawning on both maps yesterday, very slowly, but definitely re-spawning.
Wondered if one of you got the key in your bag and didn't realize it? Or do the keys drop in the mini boss bags and it wasn't looted?
yeah, the key was in the bag of Julien ( my son ). But they don't unlock the doors.. we die trying to kill the boss and when we try to come back, we really the doors were not "unlocked"
Yeah, just like normal doors the key in your pack will auto-unlock/lock the door so you can walk through it. But, it's best practice to manually unlock the doors just in case you die and need to get back.
