Gideon - well thought out, and comprehensive plan. Kudos! I don't know enough to pretend to be able to critique it, but I appreciate the effort that took. Well done! And it advances the conversation!
Great ideas Gideon, except take out the grandfathering. That itself destroys everything you're trying to do with your other points.
You could give 3 months notice. You don't think heaps of would just load up on houses before the grandfather patch just because they might want or need them in the future? This would apply only to newly created accounts and again does nothing for the actual issue of having house hoarders now... I'm being reasonable from my side of the table. You're being reasonable from your side of the table. I can see that, I can see that you don't want to affect your play style nor that of your friends and that's okay, you need to see that I'm just trying to make an environment where newer players can be more invested more easily.
I think you nailed it, he just likes to whine, period. Calls 25 million "insane" but clearly its a sellers market for forts now. I forget the statistic, but there's around 70 on the server I believe? And that number will likely shrink as some players hold onto their permanent blockers which will lessen the count as some forts will likely collapse over the next few years. Some people got onto this server early, got their land, got their riches. People who arrived later just have a few more obstacles in their way. The attitude that the "youth is our future" and a bit of entitlement isn't going to get you much support. Just play, obtain your riches and wheel and deal until you can get the house you want. This whole 'best of interest of the newer players' is just your own self-serving needs. This shard has gotten along fine and there will always be housing for players. You come off as the person in Monopoly who quits the second Boardwalk and Park Place get taken by someone else. There's still a game to be played.
If you're buying boardwalk and park place first, you're going to lose. It's proven that the orange properties before free parking almost assure victory. Also, don't buy hotels. Just saying. And it only looks like entitlement if you see it as such. I see it as giving opportunity to expand the population of the server with a more invested group, but who wants that right?! Love seeing the same 20 people on nightly! That's all I need!
Sigh. Buddy who messaged me was correct. Y'all win. Conversing with you is like trying to put in a nail with a loaf of bread.
Hell I cant wait to snatch up some sweet properties just for the back taxes owed... I can see Telamon auctioning off abandoned properties on the courthouse steps ! I actually like the idea, I have had 15 houses, I "needed" everyone of them. I now have 4, I only "need" 3 of them. Well 2 if I am totally honest, but I cant even GIVE away the villa cause of the rowdy neighbor @bart simpson
This is the thread that never ends..... It goes on and on my friends... Just when you think its dead... It rears its ugly head.... This is the thread that never ends..........................................................
Out of everyone here arguing against you there are only 2 active idoccers and 1 guy who idocced about 2 years ago. Everyone else has nothing to do with the scene and is just telling you their own opinion, hell there are even die hard enemies of ours telling you that you're crazy. On top of all of that you have Gideon and I even agreeing with you that change is needed, we're just disagreeing with how extreme that change needs to be. For the record I disagree with most of what Gideon has proposed but I think he's on the right track. Much Hype though. So you and your PM pal are delusional, at best. Either that or you're really the one who can't have a constructive discussion.
Why don't you nutbutterers either A. make thieves B. use your thieves (if you don't have a thief see A.) and help me buy up an area and make a thief town.
I gave this a shot a long time ago on this server. A) I lack the needed patience. B) I lack the needed skill. Kudos to those who make thieving interesting for themselves.
