This was handled very well. Not surprising, it happened on production servers back in the day as well. I request that my reward for my support in condemning these acts of terror be that I am awarded the estates and titles that pertain to @Treasureman's Marble Island
I don't fully understand all the details, but hell of a nice job on cleaning this mess up. If the offenders are who I think they are, I'm blown away. It's fucking pixels, guys.
If you take the time to read and process what I wrote, you would see it was actually the opposite of irony. Also, please bear in mind, you came in at the exact moment the camel collapsed under two years of straws being piled on it. Then when it came time to make up your mind what happened, you asked the straw instead of the camel. Just sayin.
You pulled a Uncle Donnie on me that is all I know! There is no difference... I'd also draw a line at how much better this server is going to be without the dead weight! (yeah this is a comparison also!) LONG LIVE UOR, the honest players, admins and Telamon!
Is it safe to assume this will include point atrophy, as it should have been in place from the start? Or will it go the way of stacked potions not counting every potion as an item in your pack?
1. Players who are around will know their names, we have no desire to drag the situation out any more than it has been. 2. 4 Players were kicked/killed. 1 Player was in stat loss at the time. 1 Player had items specifically deleted by the staff member in question. The red player was brought back to life without stat loss as he would not have died without staff interaction. The players items however could not be returned as I would be just as guilty as the players we fired for creating items. They received our apologies and will receive a standard platinum statue as an apology as well. Or a shirt with the title of "Staff killed me and all i got was this lousy t-shirt"
Point Atrophy has always been a thing, it is just slow and easily refreshed. That will be addressed with the change. Points will degrade more quickly but will be able to be taken with the player (with some minor penalty) as they move to another faction.
Well I'm astouned that two roleplayers would go into this kind of trammel business! How sad! Good job dealing with the problem. I think, as snap said, that you couldn't blame yourself and ur very staff system made sure you found out about it fast etc.
Really? What is the process for a refresh? There's characters that haven't logged in for ages that have not lost points.(nevermind, found the answer in the faction thread) "Atrophy Atrophy is a silent distribution of points, taken from inactive players, over a repeating 7 day cycle. Any member who has died in faction battle within the past 7 days will be considered active and not lose any points to atrophy. Any player who has killed another faction member in faction battle has a 33% chance of being considered active (and hence, not lose any points). Any player who has not died, nor counted as an active player from killing another is subject to atrophy. Atrophy will take 10% of each inactive player's points. Points taken by atrophy are collected in one 'pool' and then are distributed one at a time randomly, among all active faction players. It does not matter which faction the points are taken from nor which faction the active players belong too." I don't want to derail here but it seems completely absent, not just slow. Example: Hazy, in TB, 14 points. Has not even logged in for who knows how long now. It'll be nice to see it functioning in a more appropriate fashion. Thanks for the reply.
So I am just curious what happened in this one week.... that 300ish million disappeared then reappeared? @Chris
Database glitches happen every now and then - if you check other items, like platinum and holiday coins, you'll notice the same thing on the same day. It's happened other times as well.
Okay, and not that I don't "doubt" database glitches from time to time but let me elaborate more clearly then..... This show's the database updated yesterday, and "shows" 303million... This is yesterday's update. (5/20/2017) @ 639 million gold. And the original from April 3rd showed 332 million. I am not a "conspiracy theorist" by any means, but this "database" glitch either appears A LOT, or something is highly strange about all this. Now picture #1 + picture #2 does equal out to be the same amount IFFFFF you add active and inactive together... but why would the graph jump around one day and add it, and not add it another then on a random 3rd day "jump around and glitch" again. I assume these glitches aren't common? Coincidence of glitches or what?
