The one thing I love about UO will always be the people that play this game..... The world has changed alot since UO first came out but the way things work in the player community stay the same.... you got the good, the bad, the helpful, the harmful, the hardcores, and the guys who just log on to kill a few hours here and there.... sometimes I forget these types of things and then I always get reminded. Many moons ago I remember the scavengers of UO who would just go around and gather every single item to ever be dropped by anyone.. this week I finally decided to finish out my lumberjacking due to it being at 98.1 for over a year now. So I set out trusty hatchet in hand running around the city of Occlo just chopping away. Due to a mixture of being lazy and also due to the fact that I went crazy about 6 months back and bought 400k boards, i really had no need for the logs. So i set up to drop em as I chop em.... then it starts.....I turn into the pied piper..... I flock of newer guys start following me around grabbing the logs, Some ask, Some didn't, some took turns, some started arguing. One guy told me how fortunate this was due to him needing the boards for his crafter. I run these guys all over town just enjoying the banter and the fact that I could make a few guys happy and work my skill at the same time......... then I try to "teach a man to fish". I let the guys know that I use a macro that just lets me stand by the tree and it auto chops and due to the huge interest in logs I figured they might want the macro..... one guy leaves, one says no thanks, one guy proceeds to tell me that he doesn't have time to go around chopping trees as he could make more money "hunting" and its not worth his time. I probably got way to much enjoyment out of all of this but it just goes to show ya..... some things never change.
