Is there no way to get timers for this? I don't understand the rare mechanics

Oh man, I should have read this thread thoroughly long time ago.

So many spots I've looked in the wrong place, or not looked in the box, etc.

Best bet is to look here, do a forum search, or check in IRC.

I wish rares spawned in random locations throughout world to encourage actual exploration.

I 100% agree. I think it would be the best addition you could give this game. Exploration is half the fun of UO.

I think you run into the issue that some people like the fixed spots and some people would prefer the random spots.

A compromise would go a long ways towards fixing that, though.

Perhaps leave the current spawns the way they are and introduce new rares to be spawned randomly throughout the dungeons and a few overland areas....?

Bump! Fixed the images in the guide and made some minor tweaks.

Can we verify which items need to be stolen? I feel like I am looking at the rare and can't take it because it needs to be stolen.

I know fruit basket must be stolen.

Where are located the Rares runebooks?

You can try to copy the runebooks located on Gideons vendor house in Yew. It's right behind the bank in the NE villa. Just as a warning, some of those runes are incorrect so make sure to check this guide as well to ensure you're marking the right spot. I copied those same runebooks and 98% are in the right spots.

ahh bro, I thought someone told you, they turned off the spawning rares....

Just a heads-up - I know there are a bunch of broken images in the guide, and I will be working on getting those fixed.

I would also like to add screenshots and location information for rares in Level 7 maps, AMIBs, and the Tamer Quest. If you have any of this, please let me know or post it up here.
