My advice to anyone is, if you want to quit, don't give anything away, don't delete the chars, and wait a month or two for the insanity to pass and then you can pick back up where you left off

    Don't quit.

1.) Give your kids a hug or a spanking everyday and tell them you love them.

2.) Spank your wife until satisfaction.

    3.) Kick your dog.

4.) Give your kids chores around house, so you don't have to do the chores.

    5.) Play UO.

That is my list of stuff to do everyday after work. It is written on the wall behind my computer so I don't forget.

You take care of life stuff first, then move on to UO. BAM, problem solved.

I agree with everything other than the 3rd point. Leave the poor dog alone. Kick the cat.

Of course! When we moderate moderation it leads to indulgence, which is great in moderation :p

To be honest I never did see the point of these "quit" posts when it deals with these "I don't know if I should or shouldn't" questions. If someone needs the consensus of this server in order to make a decision as to whether or not to play UO then they have issues far beyond whatever advice or help this server can offer, unless someone who plays here is a licensed shrink.

It's a GAME if you can't get your shit together and your personal life is suffering because of a GAME then you need to get some professional help.

My two cents on the issue is that nine times out of ten people simply want to hear how much they'll be missed or have everyone come out in force and beg them to stay.

I realize that some people simply want to announce their departure and say goodbye to friends they've met in game, but there are those who are looking for that "you like me, you really like me" boost from it.

I'm of the mind that people need to take responsibility for themselves when playing an MMO or any other game that has the potential to suck up alot of your time, approach with caution if you know you're the addictive/compulsive personality type.

Mindless, good luck in your future endeavors, I'm not going to ask you to stay simply because if you have to ask everyone how to live your life or find balance regarding a 17 year old MMO then there really isn't anything I, or anyone else can say that's going to "fix" an already present condition you seem to be suffering from.

If I had to count the amount of times that I blamed UO for my real life problems and quit because of it I would run out of fingers and toes. However, after every time I realize that UO is not nearly as negative as the other things that I have gotten involved in over my lifetime. In fact, it has gotten to the point that I feel safer sitting at home and wasting countless hours sitting in front of my screen while my girlfriend bitches than I do out at the bars with my college buddies.

This game is addicting. No doubt about it. It will take over your life and prevent you from learning something new, take from relationships, give you lower back pain, but in my opinion, there are much much worse things out in the world. Get your work done, do you chores, then play to your hearts content. If you love doing it, why should you stop?

Lets look back at what people did before computers for countless hours:

lol learn to moderate how often you play and stop ignoring life. Priorities are the only thing going to save you cuz even if you quit, you are going to be miserable because now you miss your game.
