By now, most of you have heard of the new Mail system that a few players are working on. This system is still a work in progress. Since it's something that hasn't been done before, there's a lot of things that need to be worked out, logistically. However, I have made a guide to help you use this new system.

The first thing to know about the UPS Mail System is that it's NOT A GAME MECHANIC! This is a player-run system that is maintained and staffed by players on this server. The GMs are not involved in this system at all.

    How to Get Mail:

    Step 1: Get a mailbox

If you want to participate in this system, you'll first need to get a mailbox. This can be accomplished by showing up at the Britain moongate and visiting the house to the West. You can find an easy DIY mailbox kit at our vendors.

It is not required that you purchase one of our mailboxes, as long as your post box is easily recognizable as such, and accessible to our postal couriers. The box should have a book on top which reads: "Mailbox by The Post Office"

If you wish to purchase one of our mailboxes, there are currently two (2) different mailbox styles for sale, the Standard Issue mailbox, and the Warrior Class mailbox. Both mailboxes are lockable and include a key.

    Step 2: Register your address

The mailman's gotta know where to take your mail, so you need to register your address with the UPS mailing system. To do this, contact a member of UPS and give them the following information

This information is now your mailing address. It is also the information people will need to provide when sending mail to you.

    For example, my address is:

    Atraxi
    The Peaceful Grape
    Yew, 8001

In addition to your mailing address, it is asked that you provide us with a rune to the building where the mailbox is placed, as well, to help facilitate our delivery of your mail. Please name the rune the same name as the building we will be seeking to make the delivery. For the example above, the rune says “The Peaceful Grape”.

    Congratulations!
You are now an official mail system user

    Stamps
First you will need to buy stamps. These can be purchased at the Post Office near the Trinsic Moongate. More about stamps will be developed later as we continue to work out the specifics of the system. We are trying to determine an efficient system of making different stamps for different sizes, but at the moment, it's one-size-fits-all where that's concerned.

    Containers
Okay, obviously, you can put mail in any container, however, it is suggested that you avoid backpacks and small pouches. Round bags and any type of wooden box are preferred containers for mailing. The reason for this is that the outgoing mail drop bags at the Post Office (will discuss this in a sec) are designed such that any containers other than backpacks and small pouches cannot be removed from the drop bag by anyone other than a UPS mail worker.

Now, it's time to send some mail!
To send mail, follow these simple steps.

    (1) Put your outgoing mail into a container.
    (2) Fill out your stamp completely, including your address and the recipeint's address. This should look like this:

    Name
    House Name
    Location, ZIP Code

You'll notice this is the same as my example given above.

    (3) Take your mail to the Post Office located at the Trinsic Moongate. It's the same place where you purchased your stamp.
    (4) Drop your mail into one of the Outgoing Mail Drop Boxes. These are the 2 pouches by the front steps of the Post Office.

Now, go send someone some mail! And don't forget to check your mailbox regularly. You never know when someone's going to send YOU something!

You may find a few mailboxes still around on older houses, but the players that ran this no longer do so to the best of my knowledge. If there's any roleplayers out there, though, this would be neat to see again. :)
